    Quick feedback please.
I have discovered some strange activity and am trying to test to see if it's a new parasite or an old one operating under a new name.

    CJ recommended running BHO-cop.
New article on it today in PC mag.

Has anyone tried BHO or is Adaware better???

    Thanks,

Just downloaded BHO-cop and it did not find anything so we'll try Adaware. If we find something I will be able to report there is a new one out there. But I hate to tarnish anyone's rep. until I can find out for sure.

Until then, just call me detective Linda...

I use both and also update my Norton anti-virus profile once a week. Wish I could get Webwasher to work without hanging up my older system to eliminate some spamms.

    Linda,

These types of programs are no different from anti-virus programs in the since that they dont detect what is new or until the company has added the program to the ref files for the software. IOW, if it is something really new, they may not be detecting it yet.

Is the "strange activity" with how you are seeing a particular program operate or is it that your computer is just acting strange and you don't know if you may be infected?

Here's the REALLY interested story I am playing detective on.

One of my affiliates started making a lot of sales with no impressions. I became suspicious due to everything I read here. Starting checking orders. ONE of the orders he got credit for was placed by one of our internal employees. I Had her place another order - he immediately got credit for that one too!!!

She had downloaded Kazaa, Morpheus in the past and uses IWON. SO it's her computer I need to check. If we remove the parasites from her computer and she places another order & he DOES NOT get credit for the sale - that proves he was highjacking commission from others.

I turned him off as an affiliate while I investigate since he did not respond to my email
asking him to show me how he was making all these sales all of a sudden.

    I'll keep you posted.

Linda welcome to the War of the Parasites. Each one is competing to steal the commissions from affiliates with their BHO plug-ins. Some of these parasites even devise ways to disable the other parasite's triggering device or disable Adaware during their install. I used to have many installed on my system and even a cable modem and extra memory wouldn't keep my system from locking up as they competed for the spyware/adwarez -call home -backdoor.

What floating in this cess pool?...She had downloaded Kazaa, Morpheus in the past and uses IWON.
