I can't believe this but I'm getting a 6.7% click through rate on my adwords campaign. When I first started with them I almost gave up when I could hardly reach the minimum .05% and now I'm doing well over 5% on most campaigns and have one very competitive set of keywords over 6.7%.

This is because they optimize your campaigns to display only for keyword combinations that your ad receives high click thrus for.

For example if you had a jewelry store and bought the keyword "stones" your ad would probably get a high CTR for "precious stones" and low CTR for "rolling stones". So after a while it would not display for "rolling stones".

Up to 14% after I fixed a little spelling error. I'm starting to like adwords. At first I thought they sucked.

Great job Heyder! I didn't like Adwords at first either because I was used to Overture. Now I much prefer Adwords because they give incentives to advertisers who can run the most targeted campaigns, since your bid position is a function of your max bid and CTR. Meritocracy at it's best.

I've had results as high as 20% on lower volume terms and tend to avg. around 4% to 5% on the larger volume ones. On some projects though, I've had a bear of a time to get a decent CTR.

Using specific headlines really makes a difference.
