Sorry if this is a dupe, I did not see it posted.

Based on their own text I am assuming it automatically redirects through their links:

I came across these guys a bit back. I'd have to say they hit the red radar screen. From their privcy policy, when you finally get there, it is powered by Top Moxie. Although it is different from what you see with ebates. From their website:

quote:
I received a special offer via email, but when I click on the link the Green Thumbs-Up takes over and won't let me take advantage of the offer.
To make sure your donations are generated automatically, the Green Thumbs-Up may replace certain link URLs (addresses) with ones that generate donations. If you'd prefer to not generate the donation and instead use the special offer link, simply click on the link a second time. If you continue to see the Green Thumbs-Up frame, click on the "X" box at the right side of the frame to close it, and then click on the special offer URL again. Either of these methods should temporarily turn off the Green Thumbs-Up.

Sounds like auto redirection to me. I see some merchants on that list who probably aren't aware of these guys.

Hi,

I wasn't aware of them, and I just placed a call. I had a lengthy conversation to let them know about our concern regarding downloadable applications.

They replied that their application will not activate on other affiliate sites.

I still have concerns but to be quite honest, I'm leaving for vacation in about an hour or two...and this will have to wait until I get back.

I let them know about abestweb.com, and I recommended that someone from their company register, and reply to the comments made.

Once I get back from vacation, I'll dig into this a little more to see if there is a real problem.

Thanks,
Michael

Get braced for more of these as the TopMoxie guys seek to sell their Be-a-HO application to any nice sounding liberal cause in the world. It's called the sympathy card and the theftware in the hands of crooked business people certainly aren't going to willingly pass on stolen bucks to Save the Whales -baby seals -orphans -The starving in India or Osama's Nuke Equality colliation.

The donation con games TopMoxie plans to automate will come in every flavor and they will just hype the critics with the line " we just make the software" and cannot contral the actions of those who buy it. What driveby hidden downloads or e-mail virus installs? Jeez just document who's doing that and we'll warn them.

Just wait for the new round of nice sounding pseudo charities -Save the...??? - Police/Fireman's benivelant funds and every telemarketing fund raising scam to move to affiliate marketing by a Be-a-HO plug-in.

I found Care2 in the Ancestory program and removed them based on this and other threads.

Affiliate at a loss
Hi g(uys/als)

So how does this parasite work?

From what i see, a customer downloads (only?) the spyware and once they go to an affiliate travel site or to the main distributors, (Expedia, Lastminute) the pop up will offer to book the flight through their affiliate account number?

Is this it, or am i missing more than a bit of sleep. =)

Essentially that's it, but there's many other ways (besides just a pop-up) that they can manipulate the tracking (usually a cookie) to take credit for the sale.

I would like to point out that Batteries.com has not had a relationship with them for quite some time. I have been working very hard to keep parasites out of our program

Good for you! A quick look at all of the usual suspects' web sites shows that you are doing a good job.

I am signing up with you, unless you are on CJ. No more CJ merchants for me
