I think they are using some version of TopMoxie and they certainly did overwrite links and performed redirects all last year. Now LS says they have a handle on this and they only way is if the networks show a honest revenue graph of the TopMoxie BHO's showing a sharp decline when they stopped this practice. If no decline in revenue show from muzzling their theftware then they just devised a STEALTH mode to continue evil ways.

    Charlie ...

If they won't adopt and feed a bird ..flip them one! BBQ some Gator and remember to flush WhenU..

UPromise is a BeFree merchant. Can anyone confirm whether or not they have discontinued overwriting affiliate links? They boast on their website:

    "By shopping online thru Upromise
Visit our online shopping section and shop thru our links to get credit for your online purchases. Or, download remindU™, and we'll make sure you get college savings whenever you shop with a participating online retailer whether or not you go thru Upromise."

I was just checking to see if maybe somebody knew what programs/stores remindu carried but if these people are being less than wonderful, I'll pass. I'd like to help my daughter but not at the expense of things I value.

Avoid them and all the merchants listed here:
    http://www.upromise.com/8298.5.1.do
Don't worry you'll find other merchants not stealing from their affiliates.
It's the best way you can help your daughter.

Why is it that many of the well known companies are listed?

I guess most of the CEOs of the merchants listed don't know what kind of company UPromise really is and what they did to get there.
It's up to you to spread the word, to make a difference...

I spotted also amongst the fine print that you need to make purchases at these merchants using their credit card. The APR I think was 13%. Kicker is I've never been able to qualify for a "normal" credit card. My current card is a prepaid Visa. I told her because I want to help her, I might apply.
