"Ghost Keylogger is an invisible easy-to-use surveillance tool that records every keystroke to an optionally encrypted log file. The log file can be sent with e-mail to a specified receiver.

The Keylogger also monitors the time and title of the active application, even text in editboxes and static text is captured."

While I think the principle of software like that is blighted, it's actually quite different from Parasiteware and regular spyware from what I understand.

I am referring to legal versions, not the kinds implanted by hackers.

Basically this is for monitoring what's going on on your own computer or one you have direct access to. Like if you think your kid is downloading porn all day while you're at work, you can set up this Gestapo-like proggy and have it email you at work with a record of everything your kid looked at and typed...

Or you can catch a spouse sending racy emails to a "significant other" that doesn't happen to be *you*!

Of course, there are nasty (illegal) uses for it too, if you can get it onto a computer that's not yours--and configure it without being noticed.

In any case, it doesn't seem to be an affiliate issue...although the thought of having a program like that snuck onto a machine I was using is chilling! Parents really shouldn't be so d*mn snoopy. If they're that worried about what their kid is typing they should just restrict access to the Net when they're not there, not go around like a 2-person CIA pretending they're not looking and then come home and drop a bomb on their poor kid one night.
