Today, I started receiving a rampage of WhenU "Save" offers popping up.

The first happened when I went to: http://www.nccigarettes.com
A non-affiliated with anyone site. A pop up happened for a "quit
smoking lozenge" thru WhenU's new "Save" pop-up. (Sidenote WhenU...I'd
quit smoking for free if you'd stop with the pop-ups).

I then went to Flamingoworld to test things out and clicked on Connie's Babystyle
    banner (screenshot:

and received this overwhelmingly tempting banner:

I click on it - she loses the sale. Notice how her Linkshare ID is on the top of
both pictures -- until I click thru the WhenU/Save offer

From the WhenU/Save window, I click on the ?, which displays:

This offer is brought to you by SAVE!, which alerts you to offers and services right when they are most relevant to you. SAVE! offers include instant coupons at popular shopping sites, price comparisons, travel savings and many other services.

SAVE! supports many popular free downloads, and use of SAVE! is required to continue to use these pieces of software for free. To see the list of SAVE! supported software that you use, click here
(leads me to an empty page - nada list)

SAVE! collects no personal information or browsing history your privacy is 100% protected.

The offers shown to you by SAVE! are powered by WhenU.com and affiliated only with WhenU.com and not with any other web site that you may be visiting. For more about SAVE!, click here or contact us.

A few notes: Other than the Alexa toolbar, I have not downloaded any new software this week to cause this to happen. However -- this mysteriously was happening to me many hours before I downloaded Alexa's new toolbar (with the pop up blocker).

Read WhenU's FAQ - and have a good strong drink in the other hand.

They do provide instructions on how to remove this from your system, but you have
to dig very hard to find them.

WhenU's pop ups are not blocked by pop up blockers, but the Merchant's pop ups are!

I tested some of my own affiliate links and lost my dinner when I saw them
pop up on my own links.

This is clearly a MAJOR violation of the Code of Conduct.

    With my best,

    Liz

Well, one thing's for sure: the folks at CJ won't be losing their dinner over this, especially since they seem to be such hardy supporters of WhenU!

This is very obviously *ANOTHER* violation of the CoC - so CJ, when is WhenU going to be dropped for violating the CoC???

And no more BS excuses like the ones used previously:

    1. We've investigated, and found them to be in compliance.

    2. There was a temporary programming glitch that has since been corrected.

    3. Etc.

I have had , had it, and destroyed WhenU's "SAVE" , and I can tell you that the pop-ups were totally decieving, misleading, and most often , just flat out lies to trick you into clicking on the pop-up!

Where the COC refers to using "tricks" and misleading statements to get the end user to click on the pop-up, WhenU is KING !

The pop-ups suggest that they offer some kind of "coupon" , hence the "Click for Coupon Details" button .

In most cases, I found the "coupon" to be a REPEAT of a promotional offer posted directly on the MERCHANTS home page , or NO coupon at all, but only a general statement like "Save up to 85% in the Clearance Department. "

For something as lame as that , a commission was stolen from another affiliate , and handed over to WhenU ??? It really is disgusting that CJ does nothing about this .

    Oh, but I'm sure that it's just a 'misunderstanding'...............lol.

Personally, I'm almost dreading Xmas season, waiting for the onslaught of 'glitches' and 'upgrades' and '60 day investigations' to begin, all of which will result in an update to the CoC sometime in February, 2004, but will not restore the lost Xmas commissions.

I have noticed that the popups are often popping up on linkshare merchants and redirecting the person to a CJ merchant.

I am sure that makes CJ happy.

I've noticed all day today there is an incredibly high occurrence of Linkshare merchant click thrus popping up CJ merchants on WhenU's SAVE parasite

Last night I went back to Connie's site to re-click on her babystyle link to click-thru WhenU's Save pop up. This time, when I clicked on her babystyle deal of the deal link - I got the pop up for Charles Tywrit (sp?) shirts - who's over at CJ.

Today, I went to put up Buy.com's DOD on my website, and here's what popped up over there (a CJ merchant).

Later today, I went to go pay my SprintPCS cell phone bill online, and here's what I was presented with (after simply typing in sprintpcs.com)

This effects everyone!!! Whether you have an affiliate program or not.

I've seriously had it!! Are we all going to sit here and wonder what it is we can do or do something about it? This is what I got when I was browsing one of my own pages today!!!!

How many times must we all be hit over the head before action gets taken on this?

I quit promoting CJ merchants a long time ago. Maybe if everyone quit working with the networks that won't deal with the parasite problem, they would get the message. Will never happen though.

This needs to stop. There should be some lawsuits coming from buy and sprint pcs.
