Go to http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/ to get a list of all existing parasites and what they do.

It's a big list, sure, but I'm afraid it's not *all* existing parasites by a long chalk. There are lots more the script cannot detect, which therefore aren't mentioned there.

Also I'm falling behind a bit! Must... update...!

I sure wish you could detect TopMoxie with your script. That would put a big dent in Ebates.

Yeah. Maybe one day they'll put an ActiveX control in it so we can detect it. :-)

It is theoretically possible to detect a program like TopMoxie by sniffing for existing local files with a script-src-onerror hack. Problem is you'd have to guess the right path (by no means always C:\Program Files), a positive result would probably bring up spurious JavaScript errors, and it's really an IE security hole, which might get fixed at some point.

You would think with all the security holes that the ability to detect a Java class would rear its head up. I guess that would be too useful.

TopMoxie uses about two dozen Java classes and have pulled my hair out trying to detect them.
