    Hi All,

I received this email to one of my domains:

    ==========
    Hello,

Can you send this email to the appropriate executive who handles online
promotions for your site(s). We are very interested in promoting our
popular downloadable screensavers, games, and funny movie clips to your
    consumers.

All of our downloadable files are free of charge, so your consumers can
actually get something for nothing. We can pay your company $0.10 for
every USA consumer that downloads any file. You will have access to a
stats page where you can see the downloads as they come in.

Our most popular files are our short "Flying Cat" video clip and our
"California Bikini Girls" screensavers. The Flying Cat video is
something that every consumer can enjoy, and will result in numerous
    downloads.

But you can promote all of our files if you wish! Please email me back
with your thoughts and we can set you up right away. You can promote our
program with banners, pops, text links or ezine placement!

I look forward to hearing back from you!

Are they asking me to promote their downloadable video clips and screensavers to help them distribute spyware? That's what I get out of this. Are any webmasters here promoting a program like this?

Or am I all wet and this is a legit program?

    Any thoughts??

    Ken

    Ken,

Those applications come bundled with different adware applications. There's a reason they'll pay you .10/download for a "free" screensaver.

If you get both in one download, which actually gets to do the popping? Do they take turns? Is there "honor amongst thieves?"

I used to use Galt's screensavers to install those all the time. That Cnet info is usually not up-to-date. For that matter, the EULA's aren't a lot of times. What's bundled can change frequently. What's sad is that is getting more uncommon to see just one or two paras bundled. I have one application I use now because it is bundled with 5 or 6 of the major parasites. I can get them all installed with installing on free app.

They all pop equally and at the same time. Although some have taken to disabling some of the others if they are installed on your system. It's even in Ebates TOS that they may do that. I had one application delete n-case's data file once. Made n-case non-operational.

They've been co-bundled on that one download for over three years but I "know" that there has been "bad blood" between them for some time so I seriously doubt that they are co-bundled on other DLs.

I feel sorry for those 702,932 people.

    From http://abw.infopop.cc/eve/ubb.x?a=tp...89&m=797109205

...shows that they recently launched this "flying cat" movie as a parasite-download-lollypop.

clicking on the link downloads a file called SoftwareInstall.exe. Looking at it in a text editor shows plain text software agreements for ShopNav,My Way Speedbar/Searchbar, n-CASE, InContext and Ebates.

URL's mentioned include bluehavenmedia.com - the original "aquarium screensaver" perveyors.

Checking the WHOIS for bluehaven, it appears they've moved to Las Vegas Nevada and renamed themselves "Software Delivery Systems, Inc."
