Congrats microdot, hope they (wife & baby) are doing fine.

Now all you have to do is save like mad because when daughters get older they cost a bloody fortune, believe me I have two daughters. Why do you think we moved to Canada and left them in the UK?

Congrats Gordon!! A new little baby, just in time for Christmas!! How exciting, nothing better than new babies!!

A new little baby
to cuddle and love
To spoil just a little
and think the world of,
A bundle from Heaven
to simply adore,
Now who in the world
could ask for more!

@ microdot

I will give you a piece of advice that not many people realise.

When your daughter gets a little older 2 or 3years make sure you do NOT allow people to get one big present for her birthday & xmas together.

As a child I was always p*ssed off at xmas and my birthday (January 1st) because people did this to me.

It's not that I was ungrateful it's that I was a child, and opening 3 presents that cost 10 cents each was far far better than opening 1 present that cost $25.00.

Just something to bear in mind for all maybe some of ABW's members have nephews and nieces with a close to xmas birthday.

@ Gordon - sound advice, I can use all the advice I can get at the minute, still a little shell shocked!

@ Dynamoo & Guffy - Mrs Microdot! Microdot Junior! Don't tell the missus that - she'll skin me alive! She already thinks I've been surgically attached to my PC

I'm with Gordon on the present suggestion my youngest (who turns 9 this year) was born December 22nd. I go out of my way to give him a good birthday party over and above Christmas.

Congrats, MicroDot -- kids are wonderful

Congrats, Microdot!

I'm definitely with the others as to the separate gifts for birthday and Christmas.

My mother was born near Christmas and for years I heard about how bad one party/one gift or less gifts were.
