I am an addict! I Compulsively register domains and build websites. It all began innocent enough, with just one well thought out catchy name. Then when I discovered affiliate marketing and began building sites, it escalated and has been spiraling out of control.

There are so many domains, I honestly cannot name them all off the top of my head and have to keep a list so that I can even remember to check stats for them.

I’ve tried to stop. I tell myself after each new registration “No more” and then I see a niche product or merchant category that isn’t saturated and before I know it, I’ve registered it and placed it on the bottom of my “to be built” list!

May God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change……..

I'll join you in the corner, Mary. My problem is even worse, because new ideas end up at the *top* of my to-do list, before other items are finished, and I end up with a whole bunch of things that are -- erm -- "in progress."

Umm that's a "me too", although I only own 31!

I've been sorry busy with Parrots I haven't had time to do my column on Dynamoo, I completely missed CreepyGuy on Christmas and tons of other stuff so I mentally am ticking myself off here.

Ummm so who has the *most* domains here?

(The *expensive* habit is the SnapNames habit at $69 a go! but I do have a reservation on songwriter-4u.com.. )

I haven't registered a new domain for 4 days.

I have the beginnings of a site made for my latest. In fact I have the beginnings of about 8 or 9 sites that are almost ready to make live.

If I can just control myself long enough I may be able to get some of them actually on line.

I even formed a partnership to share the load and the huge profits for one of the domains I registered last month.

Is there any hope for me?

I'm glad to hear I am not the only person with this problem!

I must say that our addictions at least are productive (i hope) rather than some destructive obsessions we could have (drugs, alcohol, etc.), plus maybe we'll all get rich someday!

Well, I was able to control myself this morning and NOT register a new one for a Great idea for a site...., I told myself that I could wait til March 1, and finish all of the half built sites I have.

The only way to beat this problem is Cold Turkey. To help you we will take all of those domain names off your hands and remove the temptation.
You can be healed Sister Sunshine, just give us the domain names and we will use them for a worthy cause (our retirement).

I NEVER thought *I* would get Domain Registration Disease.

But I think I did catch it... I've got about 15 domains! Someday there'll probably be enough to fill a page.

As for doing anything with 'em, it depends on how hot the idea is!

The nameboy site?

Neither- I wouldn't dare post an affiliate link without being asked for it.

it gets worse.
i'm at the point where i'm buying names for all my nieces and nephews so they can have theirname@theirname.com instead of aol and hotmail.
hosting accounts too so they can have their own homepages without banners.

Go Nameboy Go! I'm looking for a name for a silver jewelry site and the best he can come up with is "silver-campground"
Where is namegirl when you need her?

I was actually being facetious about the"NameBoy" keyword wizard results.
I already hooked up with a name for the silver site, but thank you for the suggestions.

Reminds me of Tattoos and Potato Chips...bet you can eat (or get) just one...we are in the same boat as well...I realized that I was getting bad when I was registering domains for the city I live in...I also have a ton of names that I will use 'someday'.

Any ideas for a TOP TEN list of "things to do with unused domain names"?
Maybe this would be productive for somebody.
If you slap up a quickie page, without promoting it, with a relevant article or something like that, and a link to one of your existing sites, would that serve to improve link popularity for the existing site in question?

Wow - how'd I miss this post back in February.

Hi, My names Jada and I'm a stats and web buildaholic.

Won't even say how many sites I have - I'll just say it's almost going on page 3. I too have to keep a list of my domains. I can't go a day without checking stats and a week without building any sites. However, I must say at this point it is a rather lucrative addiction. But sometimes I wish I could at least go a day without getting the urge to touch the computer. Will that EVER happen. A day when I don't want to check stats???

Wow...some of you are pretty addictive to domain names. I'm sitting at 7.

But I wouldn't know what do with myself if there wasn't a computer in the house....(hmm maybe I could lay off the maid...LOL)

My name is mj and I'm a domain junkie

I have no idea how many I have and like Jada it started innocently enough, I picked up a couple of domains then someone offered me money for them.

This was an easy way to finance my domain habit but the past couple of years it's become so bad, I can't bear to sell or lose any of them.
Some are tied up in quarter finished websites, others, I can't even remember the names of until I check my domain manager.

The twitch has started....
I can feel a new domain coming on...
if cj don't get the stats up soon I just know I'm going to be messing around at nameboy and whois...H E L P!!!

I actually managed to get through the day without buying anothor domain!

Did the rounds of ebay, afternic, played with nameboy, sedo and whois but then ended up watching Legally Blonde, playing dress-ups with the kids and washing the dog but today could be a whole different can of worms
