Well, it was a long weekend here and sunny finally!

One of my dogs did his first official CKC Lure Coursing competition. After much snobbery from the "pro's" (as they called themselves, the non-retired racers, just regular show dogs) he took away second place every day and a tropy and a ribbon for highest points over the weekend.

It was a wonderful way to spend a weekend before I start the new job -- I am just so darned proud!

Cool that he did so well!

Just what do the dogs have to do in the Lure Coursing Competition?

Well, to be very simple about it, they chase a white plastic bag around a field!

The bag (it is easily visable flaps in the wind) is the "bunny" and it's on a big pully system. The track this weekend was 850 yards and it darted all over the field -- not just in a circle.

It's amazing how much the dogs love it. It's a "gazehound" sport. This weekend we had Greyhounds, Whippets, Irish Wolf Hounds, Basenji's and Saluki's. They all run differently but all are just as amazing to watch!

For the dog's sake, I hope the bag had a goodie in it!

LOL, oddly enough, the bag has nothing and to the dogs it's the MOST exciting thing they ever saw!
