My beautiful and articulate friend just committed suicide.
I've stared at the above sentence trying to fight the numbness setting in, the tears, the finality, trying to understand what drove her to it.

    Angela was only 37.

MJ I'm so sorry. I had a grandmother that committed suicide. I can tell you that the reasons are self-secret (to that person). We really can't understand why they do it. My prayers and hugs are with you.

I can't begin to understand what you're feeling. I know when my husband died in a car accident last year although it was unexpected there was a "reason" for it (so to speak)

By the sounds of it, you're understandably at a loss as for why it happened.

It's little comfort but know that everyone here will keep you and her family in our hearts and prayers.

It's one of the saddest things of all when that happens.. even the most articulate sometimes can't communicate their feelings to others.

I'm very sorry for your loss. In cases like this I think there are no words that can truly comfort you.

So sad, thank you all for your kind words.

We've had many a talk about the consequences of child abuse on this board, here is a very real example of the invisible demons these children carry into adulthood.
She just got tired of fighting her demons.

Yeah, these people are left feeling very delicate. Things get to them that would never bother anyone else. And under the circumstances I think 37 years is quite an achievement.

I'm sorry for your loss, but if she really didn't feel able to continue, the decision was hers to take. Wherever she is now, I'm sure she will still appreciate your continued love and support.

So sorry for your loss. It makes it especially hard because you wonder if there was something you could have done to prevent this from happening. Please do not carry any guilt, you were a good supporting friend. Unfortunately we always ask why and never find the answer. My prayers to you and her family.

That's true and MJ please don't let yourself fall into thinking that you could have done something. When someone is determined to take their own life there is nothing anyone can do to prevent it.

My thoughts and prayers are with all who are close to her.

I too just lost a sister in law, and it's still hard to process, I'm still thinking I should see her around. Some times life just doesn't seem fair, for her 3 kids she left behind.

Just hang on to the good times you shared, and when you remember her, she'll live on in your memories.

Mousejockey - I am soooo sorry. My prayers are with you and her family. It is so sad to lose someone that way. I know a friend who tried to committ suicide via overdose about 10 years ago but fortunately her attempt failed and she was given another chance and a whole new outlook on life from the experience. She is now a very successful young happy lady and a wonderful mother.

I'm sorry your friend wasn't as fortunate. The demons that haunt one inside the soul are something that many people can never understand. My heart hurts for you and her family.
