In case you haven't picked up on it yet- I'm a very competitive person. Our office has competitions each year to reward the department who best celebrates the holiday - I like to win - that's our tradition.

    Examples-
Last year's pumpkin carving contest required us to carve a pumpkin provided by the company. We purchased extra pumkins and made a pumpkin village- very impressive with flying bats and creaky doors and a two story masterpiece.

Result - 1st place (we won a pizza)

    Chili Contest
Big Mike's chili is a true bowl of red that will create a slow, but effective fire.

Result- 1st and second past two years when he was in a different department. Mike's now in the affiliate department- we have it in the bag next year. Prize- a small trophy.

    Halloween Costume
We had a couple of good entries this year- the best being MacDaddy
Mac is our affiliate xml programmer and came dressing in his own MacDaddy suit and some pretty outrageous jewelry and wig.
Result- 1st place price- a certificate that say's he won

    That brings us to Christmas.
Last year we were Santa's workshop with the triumph being the wrapped ceiling tiles. We lost.

    This year-
I need to take pictures for you all. We have recreated A Christmas Carol with large cardboard homes at the perimeter and a large cardboard gate when you enter. We've constructed a small pond (ok, a puddle) in the room with a Christmas tree. A fake fireplace with not enough coal for our supervisor. We've scattered dry ice around to give us the perfect London fog. At lunch, we're going carolling and entertaining the rest of the company (I'm humming)

    It gets better -
We're all in full costume. I'm a tuxed Scrooge with money bags and all. We have elaborate ghosts and Tiny Tim (Big Mike) and carollers with hot cocoa and mittens and scarves. THe AM's Supervisor is Cratchet in raggedy clothes. We also have Bob Marley around which stems from an unfortunate inability we had to remember Jacob Marley's name. Since the Director of Internet Marketing is also in town- we've made him into our Christmas tree. As a Christmas surprise- we also have Frosty the Snowman. Yes- a large, furry Frosty who dances and sings and helps affiliates with their conversions and traffic.

    What more could you want?

How about a Charles Dickens who is able to start reading from her book anytime we have a visitor and effectively pull the strings of everyone here by requesting we act out a scene?

When we win? a pizza :-)

At home...I have an almost decorated tree...

So- what are you doing this holiday season?

(ps- we were in at 7 working on this more than once- no valuble affiliate hours were wasted :-)

    Playing Christmas music.

And plenty of Nuthin and playing of vids for Christmas and the surrounding days. Time to chill and enjoy life!
