    After 18 years, my employer has presented me with a unique opportunity to make a new career choice. I got my official layoff notice about a month ago, so it looks like I'll have more time to work on my web sites. This wasn't totally unexpected, as my job was supposed to have officially ended in the summer of '98.

    Most of my co-workers who are getting laid off at the same time as I am are pretty bummed out about it, and can't believe that I'm so happy to be being laid off (I'm practically doing cartwheels in the streets). I'm happy to be able to try something different after working at the same job for all these years with rotating shifts, the constant plea for time off, overtime, etc.

    The uncertainty is a little bit easier to cope with since my wife and I no longer have kids at home. She is still working, so we'll have health insurance.

    When I leave the company, I'll receive 6 months worth of severance pay. I also get up to 2 years of schooling for retraining, so at 45 years of age, I'll be college-bound to finish up a business administration degree that I started working on in '98.

    At any rate, affiliate marketing will be a much larger priority for me both now and in the future. I've never been a regular poster on these boards, but I'm sure that'll change now too.

    God bless your positive attitude! I'm predicting you'll look back at this as your "big break" and only wish you could have done it sooner.

    I learned this a long time ago:

    The last four letters of the word: enthusiasm

    i= I
    a= am
    s= sold
    m= myself

    When you are "sold" on your dream, goal, product etc. you have enthusiasm and it will show. Enthusiasm is contagious and it is a very strong driving force in sales. Develop a personal endless supply of the magic "feeling" and you can't fail at anything you undertake...

    Nothing beats a positive attitude. Sometimes I have to remind myself of that...folks like you, gregdi, jason, and andy, are very lucky indeed that it seems to be second nature to you.

    Keep on keepin on!
