I am going to Florida for Christmas and need to rent a car but just want to get an economy car. I did a search on Orbitz and got some car rentals companies that I hadn't heard of. Does anyone have any experience with any of these local companies and are they any good?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Just got back from there myself.

I made sure I went during the low season. No queues.

We rented a full-sized from National, and scooted around all week in a supercharged Pontiac something-or-other, which was ideal. I got the full-sized, as the cost difference was very little, and it meant we had a proper boot (sorry, trunk) to hide all the shopping in when we hit compUSA, bestbuy, etc. :^)

I live in Florida now but when I lived in VA and came to visit my family, I used local companies. I got a convertible for $25 a day! they usually give you a better car for the money. Make sure you have confirmation and called the to confirm your reservation...

    Ron,

Depending on what city you are going into and the dates, Thrifty in Orlando seems to be running some specials as low as 15 bucks a day - at least that's what's showing up on my travel website powered through Travelnow
(PM me if you want the website name - don't want to violate Haiko's TOC's by posting it here).

Has anyone dealt with E-Z Rent a Car or New Frontier or L&M?

Thanks again for all the suggestions.
