Getting to that time of the year where food, family and fun is on everyone's mind.

Given the demographics in here, there must be lots of you who own a pretty darn good Home Theater system.Curious as to how many ABW'bers enjoy a good movie with great sound as much as I do?

Just watched Raiders of the Lost Arc. Nice! Very very nice!

We have surround sound, and at times it is just too much, at least for me. Hubby loves it though.

I put in a cheap surround with DTS and DD and I love it... now I'm off looking to upgrade...however with 1 year and 6 year old kids running around I think I'm going to have to go wireless so that no one is pulling on cables, I know Sony have a wireless system out, anyone know of any more or can recommend one?

    Cheers

    Chris

We bought a dvd player last Christmas, followed by a 53" HDTV (open box special - great price!) just in time for Super Bowl Sunday, followed by a surround sound system 2 weeks later. Then of course we had to buy a bunch of DVD's that had lots of explosions with sound and special effects. I swear, once you start, you can't stop.

We'd would have loved a wireless system, still too pricey for us. We spent an hour pulling up carpet just enough to hide the wires underneath. No tripping. My biggest problem is hiding the wires from the speakers hanging on the walls, to the floor. I hate that!

We sure do enjoy them though!

I watch movies on my PC. Don't have surround sound, but the sound is hooked up to a Linn Classik and an awesome pair of KEF Reference speakers. Could easily shake the house in its foundations.

Yes, it is definitely very addictive. Just pulled out Star Wars I and watched 30 min of the good scenes. The Jedi fight scenes are so fun to watch.. over and over again

The wires is a super hot topic in the HT world. There are a few options to hiding wires. Some options are expensive and invasive and the other methods require alot of detailed work.

Glad I am not the only HT nut in here. Oh, you have to watch Pirates of the caribbean. Great story, acting and score!

Not sure if wireless is good for HT but someone who has more experience with it will answer I am sure. You can always try to mount your speakers higher up and angle them to the listening position. In fact, Dolby suggest rear speakers to be 3 ft above the ear level to give a better spatial sound field. Speaker wires from the receiver up the wall and to each speaker. You can try flat wire speaker wires some of which you can paint and have it blend into the wall.
