A useful reminder though that the things that rule our lives are very small parts of everyone else's.
I had another one yesterday. My pre-affiliate j*b was in sales - IT to schools. We believed ourselves to be at the very heart of school life, driving improvement, raising standards, supporting all the exciting initiatives that were coming out of the information age. Then yesterday I read the report by government inspectors on one of my old (and very IT intensive) local authority customers. These people were the most advanced in the country IT-wise but out of 70 pages of (good) report of their education provision, IT made up 2 paragraphs. I was humbled.
