Another reason to hate my day j*b... I just received a word document (big mistake) that they expect us to sign, outlining what we are allowed to do w/ computers, email, internet, etc. I know what I'm signing, but do they? LOL

How can they expect me to make enough through my web sites to quit my day j*b if I can't use the internet at work?

I read through the one at my job.

In a nutshell: you cannot use the computer/network to distribute hate speech. You cannot use the computer/network for personal gain.

Too bad "personal gain" is usually painted with an unusually large brush. I would imagine communicating here (not against the TOS) could be construed as personal gain, since we are discussing business.

There's a big stink around here about city employees and their use of work computers. Seems a lot of them have been viewing porn sites, and some of them seem to feature people a bit too young to be involved in this kind of thing, if you know what I mean.

I think a couple of police officers have been involved, and one city employee had been logged as visiting thousands of porn sites while on the job!

It's nice to know my tax dollars are being used efficiently...

This one used to say that we can't use it for anything not "business" related and that anything produced and/or transmitted is their property, along w/ all the standard hate, violence, illegal activity stuff...

I cannot believe companies even offer their employees internet access. I am thankful for it as my content sites are busiest during workdays - but really, what do most people need internet access for?

for me, my sanity ...gotta feed the addiction!

actually, we use it to track mail, look up addresses, info on companies, school districts, other agencies we work with, print out maps and find directions for sweeps, investigations, and serving documents... countless things... The only other places I've worked, besides retail & food service, relied on the having internet access as they were either web design companies or startups...
