A merchant wants to set a feed up so that it is pushed to my ftp location.
I've only retrieved from other people's ftp locations before so I'm not sure how and what to set up.
Do I just need to set up an ftp account / folder on some existing webspace (assuming it's got enough spare meg)?

    Hello Midnightcoder,

Dependant on your server, if you are hosting with someone else they can add a different file to your server so someone can only upload. It will require you call and or contacting your technical support.

If you maintain your own server create a new folder root, then set the permissions appropriately.

The most secure way to do it (if you have a hosting account that allows it) is to set up a user on one of your accounts with a minimal setup - small disk allocation, no toys, but ftp of course. Give the merchant that users name and password and they'll be able to script the transfers. Just like you would upload files to your ftp space.

As site admin you'll have access to that user space too.

The insecure way to do it - but more account setups may allow it - is if you have/can set up anonymous ftp. Not recommended tho'

    Thanks for the advice!

I have set up an ftp user with user name and password access - ran a few tests and looking good.
