I'm just curious if anybody does swing? I love it to death. Been doing it for the past 4 years and it never gets old, gotta love that big band sound! Just went to the Hollywood Bowl a couple weeks ago to see Big Bad Voodoo Daddy play with the LA Philharmonic. There was no place to dance so my gf and I took advantage of the slick isle ways. Great fun!!

I'm all about the brass, just love that strong trumpet sound. Used to play back in high school, good times.

Agree about the brass - from another HS trumpet player. My brother bought a '52 Hudson to restore for $1.50. We found a folder full of hand written music signed by Glen Miller. As for dancing, give me a few shots of Canadian club and I'll swing all night long.

Well if I don't get out dancing to a live band at least once a week I'd weither up and die. Like you Snib I'll dance at the drop of a hat which was what I loved about Louisana. Even Sunday church festivals has bands and New Orleans and baton Rouge had funky soul food horn bands all over the place. Best horn band on the face of this earth is "Tower of Power" ...just ask any big name brand who's their own favorite.

I'm a great swing dancer! Yes, I am!

Problem is I used to be able to do it all night. Now, I can do it about five minutes!

Nice to hear that SSanf feels she HAS TO dance when the music plays. Most people have to be coaxed. Amazing all human cultures always has their music & dance.

And I thought Rick was going to be the one who started this thread. Great to see so many swing dancers here.

The point of music is to dance to it right?

Dance or sing! I can't work and listen to music at the same time coz doing the chair boogie throws my typing all out of whack.

I love swing music, but I can't dance to it. (I'm a lousy but enthusiastic dancer.) My fave old timers are Louis Jordan, Cab Calloway and Louis Prima. Current faves are The Love Dogs and The Red Elvises (who I almost convinced hubby to hire to play at our wedding).
