My host has disabled phpmyadmin's database upload features, so I need to use shell. Problem is I have almost no idea how to upload a content to my database using shell.

Does anyone know how to do this?

can't you just login into mysql over ssh and perform the LOAD DATA INFILE etc yourself?

mysql -u username -p databasename [enter]
    yourpassword [enter]

Or write a perl/php script to perform the LOAD DATA INFILE query for you and run that from the command line?

Why not just use a standard FTP program?

Pete, a lot of times, hosts won't allow that. Too much of a security breach risk.

This peticular host isn't allowing the 'LOAD DATA INFILE' query due to security. When I asked them about this they told me "You will need to import your data through the mysql shell." Problem is I have no idea how to do this without using 'LOAD DATA INFILE'.

I can FTP the datafeed to my server, but how would I get it into my database from there?

    Thanks,
    Joey
