Some new features of the new kick @ss ABW
For those not as familiar with VB, some new features already in place that weren't available on infopop.

First someone asked somewhere (and I can't find it now) about all the threads in a forum not showing. Go to "User CP" in the top menu --> Edit options and scroll down to the Thread Management section. Change the drop down menu for Thread Display Cut Off from Board Default to Show all Threads. It looks like the Board Default is currently set to show only threads from today.

Also on that screen you can tick off the Allow vCard download function and other members can download your vCard. Something managers/merchants maybe interested in allowing.

Also from here you can tick off the "Allow Other Members to send you email" button if you would like other members to be able to email you through a form interface on the boards. If you want to email another member (vs a pm) then just click their user name and you'll see a link to be able to email the member (if they have allowed it).

Also from the member profile screen (another member's profile not yours), you'll find a link to add that member to either your Buddy List or put them on your Ignore List (a feature I know some have been asking for).

If you mouse over any thread/post title from anywhere but the front page, you'll see the post contents. This is really cool to do as a quick check to see if you really want to click through to read the post or not.

We've got lift-off and NEW POST functionality!!!!!!!!

From the Edit Options screen all the way to the bottom, check out the Message Interface choices. The WYSIWYG interface works great.

If you subscribed to forums/threads on infopop, you'll need to reset those here as that does not seem to have carried over.

At the bottom of any thread you are viewing, you'll see a "Similiar Threads" listing of related threads.

And of course, we got speed.

It looks like only 4 smilies allowed in a post. I had to edit out some in my last post before it would go through. Oh my....what's Mr. Sal going to do?!?!?! ROFL!

Trusty, I have no idea how the buddy list works (i was more interested in the ignore feature), but sure I'll be your buddy. Even though you've stood me up in the past.

I have to agree -- the new board, new features...they rock. I have yearned for an "Ignore" feature...but now that it is available...not really sure I will use it...I don't want to miss anything!

I've said it before...all in all...great improvements Haiko!

    Thank you!

    Kellie,
I just find this post, thank you for thinking about me.

I am working on it, some how, some way, some day, I will figure it out on how to make a new full smilie post here, like I did on ABW with the post to Mike & his bird.

    Sal.

On ABW I was an now in here I feel like an because I am a again, so we will see (I was not able to post another smillie :-( here)what happens.

    Sal (The former MR. Sal)...
Since English is a 2nd langueage (does the new ABW have a spell checker!!), I only understand his smile translations of his text, we should make a 4-limit exception for Mr Sal! Or... since I don't use smiles, Sal you can use up to four of mine.

    Kelle...
Since you're a "newbie", I no longer have to listen to you, right?

    Haiko...
Hmmmm. How come he bypassed Newbie and went straight to Administrator? Maybe he knows someone high up at ABW!

    Unnamed Parrot...
If we can limit smiles to four per post, then we should limit the phrase "a bunch of adwhores/DMA marketing wanks" to four per post!!!

    And seriously...
I don't mind having people know I'm currently on ABW... but do they have to know which thread I'm currently reading??

Welcome back gang! Missed you all!

Call me slow on this one. I just realized that the little ball beside the screen name is different colors if the person is logged onto the board or not. Green if they are on and blue/gray/whatever if they aren't. And I thought that was just decoration. ROFL. Good thing the emoticons aren't moved over yet because I'd have to heat myself in the head with the hammer.

It took a while but I finally found a vCard that worked to see what that was all about. Bummer it's set up for Outlook and I'm a Thunderbird nut.

I got Haiko's and it's a .vcf file, and my default for that is Outlook on this PC. It opens in a text editor so maybe there is a way to open it in TBird.

    Haiko,
Thanks! I'll give it a try. I did a lot of searching on the subject earlier today and for the amount of interest It's only a matter of time till someone writes an extension.

Hey... just looking this thread over... Did we miss the 1 year anniversary of the new board software? Or is that no reason to have cake?
