Chris, did I not tell you what you should expect at this time of year?
Let me run down the clothing list again:
Balaclava and/or earmuffs and/or wool cap you can pull down over your ears
Down jacket long enough to cover your butt, with a hood
Thinsulate lined waterproof boots
I don't know Toronto but I imagine it's a lot like Montreal where you can pretty much get around without ever going outdoors. Montreal has underground tunnels that connect buildings in the business and shopping districts as well as one hell of a nice subway system.
Good luck. Dress for the weather and you'll probably survive the experience.

I've been to Toronto a few times. That weather's colder than here--but not by much!
Toronto's got some great underground malls, and a decent subway, although I remember thinking that it'd be nice if the sub line was a bit more extensive. Food sucked though and the arcades had closed. It used to be choked with video arcades, a real gamer's paradise, but alas, a few years ago their interests had shifted towards other things...
All those clothes Rhea mentioned are necessary for going out anywhere in the North without freezing your butt off, hence the reason I will be trying to stay inside until April! Brrr, F this weather! At least if I stay inside and ignore it long enough, it'll GO AWAY!There is no knowledge that is not power. ~Hemingway

-22F That is the "milder" weather we get because we live fairly close to Lake Superior. Our neighbors 20 mi south get the -40F stuff.
You want real cold in the US - talk to someone living near Lake of the Woods, MN! http://www.weather.com/activities/ot...77&from=searchThis World is Not My Home
We're gonna go inside, we're gonna go outside, inside and outside. . . And then we're gonna go go go and we're not gonna stop til we get across that goalline! Quotes from the movie Rudy, 1993

Shorts and golf shirt here ... the snow is gone (we actually had several days of it for once) and the rains have stopped for now.
It's only 1 or 2 degrees cooler than vegas right now and the temps are going up every day.
You'll get wet here not real cold lol

Been away, now I'm back. Not as much, but I'm back & starting from scratch. Where I was, was fantastic. Where I am now, less so. Things have changed, become harder. So have I. Game ON!!!

We had -42 here two weeks ago (-44F). Kept the kids home from school and had to dress the DOGS in layers to go out and pee.
This week, it's +12 (54F) ... and they wonder why we're sick so often!!

The coldest I have ever been was -25 C in Erzurum Turkey one Christmas... so this should be a breeze..... but that was 12+ years ago and I was living in tropical Denmark at the time... It's about 30 C here right now, aircon on all night at about 25C and I start to shiver at around +19 C ....
