January 26th, 2005, 05:08 PM #1Great "New Posts" Q from Gordon
Basically Gordon asked me why the new posts link (that has the number of new posts) is sometimes different to the results page that says XX results.
The reason for this is because there have been multiple postings in the same thread, so if lets say there were 100 new posts (depicted in the new posts link) and let's say there were only (let's say) 25 threads shown that is because there were 100 new posts spread across those 25 threads. Make sense?
Oh and the polls being pushed up to the top as a new post (even without a new post) was because some one voted in it and it pushed it to the top once again. I found this utterly confusing so I turned the pushing of the thread to the top (as a new post) function off.

It was a great Q because I said WTF myself and researched.
I hated clicking the "stock" new post link and getting 103 new posts but the same thread listed a few times, so I changed it.
