Just a question to those who use datafeeds regularly. Do you normalize the feeds your use or just work out a way to display stuff with a single table?

I'm still stuck on the inserting into database part I can throw it in and start messing around but I want to do it right so I can automated some of them later on or at least minimize the amount of reworking to do.

Also when it comes to backups or maintenance is it easier to have all feeds in a single database with their own merchant prefixes or at least own tables or seperate databases for each?

As for normalization, with a table of 1000 rows
I wouldn't be bothered to much, try to get your
column definitions as good as possible (eg not a varchar(255) when you only need a varchar(5)).

If you can make sku,product_id,.. a PK or add an index.

When it comes to maintenance, I would go for
    a table per merchant.

I normalize. Script to load. Script to normalize. That way I don't have to monkey around with the script to display, it is always the same.
