Interesting Link Spamming via blogs article
    Have a read of
    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/01...mer_interview/

I was vaguely aware that this was going on but fascinating to read an-depth article on it.

Still the saving grace is that I guess the sort of words that "Sam" wants to be highly placed for on Google et al. with his casino, viagra, etc sites, are a million miles from what all(or almost all) of us here are interested in.

From now on, when Google sees the attribute (rel="nofollow") on hyperlinks, those links won't get any credit when we rank websites in our search results. This isn't a negative vote for the site where the comment was posted; it's just a way to make sure that spammers get no benefit from abusing public areas like blog comments, trackbacks, and referrer lists.

yep, there's a whole interesting underworld of getting links .. with lots of money in the bank for a few who're beating the system. 50K to 150K /month with relatively small network is not unheard of!

    Thanks for that link, Les.

It's always good to know what's the other side up-to. No wonder this business is so for the honest affiliates and some merchants.

When it's not one thing, it's another and in the mid time, all of the crooks, immoral and greedy people keep on making the most money for now because in the law of the man, the book and or the court, it's not illegal. I just hope that soon things change for the better for the rest of us, one way or the other.

Life is to short and everything have a time limit. (AND I MEAN EVERYTHING)

    From the article:

(spammers) turned to other free outlets which Google already regarded highly
Makes me think ... The Google king turns all to gold, but some things become useless if turned to gold.
