    Hi,

ive got a big problem at the moment: One of my german merchants sent me a datafeed. in my BUYURL field i now want to fill in my ID. the problem is, when i use find replace, exel doesnt find the * which has to be replaced with my id. it always replaces the whole field. does someone know what i could do ? would be very nice if someone had an answer for me. you would help me soo much.

oh, and sorry for my strange english.

Try opening it in a text editor and doing a global replace then check it in Excel again to see if all is OK.

Put a tilde (~) in front of the asterisk.

    Search for: ~*
    Replace with: blah

    Intuitive, huh?

oh no, i have got another problem now. working with the tilde works for me now, but do i have to put this tilt all by myself into every line of a 4000 lines datafeed ???? could you please tell me how i can put the tilde at the whole part of the table always in the same part of the field ? oh god my english sucks....

    alright maybe this works:

    DeepLink
    http://www.ad.XXXXX.com/ppc/?*&ULP=9030180
    http://www.ad.XXXXX.com/ppc/?*&ULP=9030210
    http://www.ad.XXXXX.com/ppc/?*&ULP=9030300

Ok thats the first 3 lines of the deeplink field in my database.

now i put a tilde into the first field

    http://www.ad.XXXXX.com/ppc/?~*&ULP=9030180

    OK. good.

and now my question: how can i put the tilde into every line of the field deeplink, without doing it all by myself (4000 fields how long would this take ????)

would be very nice if you guys could help me again.

and sorry for my funny explanations.

    Cosmo,

I think you may have misunderstood the usage of the tilde.

You're looking to replace the * with something else, right, like your ID? (say it's 12345).

The tilde's used in the search and replace window to tell Excel not to treat the asterisk as a wildcard.

So in Excel, search for ~* (which is really just searching for *) and replace with 12345.

    Wish I could speak German!
