Very cool. Now I just need to get that site built.

Um, one thing. I got SIX emails about this. Just thought you should know.

Is this on a per-site basis, or must the affiliate swear off all other competitors on all of our sites?

One point is not enough for me to dump thousands of products from other merchants in the very broad categories you just outlined. I might be able to give you exclusivity on a per-site basis though.

    Okay,.. Uh...I'll guess.

It is on a per-site basis. I won't have any competitors on the same site with Betty Mills.

    Thanks,

    Fred

    Hi,

It's was not intended on a per site basis, but on the basis of what categories are represented overall in your affiliate marketing efforts.

If you already have sites that are up and running, don't sweat it. You can still do very well with BettyMills without the extra point.

There are lots and lots of threads here on ABW about how affiliates do not like to be restricted by exclusivity clauses. And to expect an affiliate to offer you an exclusive on Office Supplies across all of the sites that an affiliate may run is a pretty ballsy request, in my opinion, especially for 1%. For one thing, I have 70 sites, how do you know I don't have office supplies on another one? The *only* exclusive private offer I have ever accepted was for a pet meds program and it was on a per site basis.

Requiring a site that focuses on Betty Mills to be just for Betty Mills is one thing, but for one percent asking me to ONLY promote Betty Mills is expecting a bit too much. And I have only been promoting Betty Mills in the past, but I can't get her to convert anyway, so you may freely discount my opinion. I will be promoting other office supply programs, *IF I SO CHOOSE*.

Other affiliates that only have a site or two can take your pledge, at this point in time I won't make that kind of pledge to any merchant, even my HIGHEST converters, because what if I do and 6 months from now you close the program? No, you don't plan to now, but sh*t happens and programs close, sometimes quickly, and then your pledgees are up a creek because they don't have a comparable site for a competitor or a relationship with a competitor.

I spread my eggs, even the golden eggs.

Betty doesn't get my pledge and I am offended that I was asked to pledge.

    That's a fair response.

I will add to the offer:

You can qualify for the extra

    1) With your pledge,

    OR

    2) By creating a dedicated store with all products we offer from the following manufacturers or categories:

    HON Furniture (2,572 products)
    Rubbermaid Products (1,126 products)
Sheds, Structures and Canopies (167 Products)
    Georgia Pacific Products (124 products)

Either your pledge or at least one dedicated store from the above list gets you the extra point.

These are our top producing lines and you can easily pull them off of the datafeed.

Hope that helps things a bit.

That is a more fair offer that I am sure more affiliates will be pleased with accepting.

Thanks Victor, for being open minded.

Great - I didn't get this email myself and was alerted by a fellow aff (who got two copies), so this answers my question. I have a 100% dedicated BM site but have others such as Amazon who stock millions of items some of which will coincide with BM products.

We hereby waive Amazon and Ebay 'general links' that would go to their website homepages, as those would be hard to control given the hodgepodge items and of mixed lines they offer, however the waiver would not apply for specific links to their site that would directly conflict with our 'loyalty categories', for example a link directly to a shed category at Amazon or Ebay.

I have a question regarding the above: if I create a store as per above directions, and use AdSense on that site, will I still qualify for the extra point?

    Thank you.

    Good question.

I'm leaning toward Adsense free dedicated sites.

I'd like to think the product content be used specifically for the purpose of selling those items in the feed.

    Comments are invited.

If your competition has a higher price it is good to post their link next to yours. Then shoppers can see they are getting the best price without having to go look around.

    AdsÚnse = Leech? Probably.

Price comparison via AdsÚnse? Not great, the visitor would have to leave your site (and link) to go make the comparison.

I vote for having the visitor get going to BM via the affiliate link asap.

    I agree with Fred...

I have a dedicated site... it's been up since the first day Dave offered the software to create a site with the feed...

It has gone nowhere, nada, zilche... it has taken me all this time to get listed in the SEs and as a result I get very little traffic... so 1% of nothing is no big deal....

    Joe,

Did it really take all that time to get indexed? If you care to do so, please send me a PM with a link to your site. I'd like to take a peek if you don't mind me doing so.
