    Signatures...
I'm sure there is a place in the CP under profile to add a signature line... but I can't seem to find it.

Can someone give me some direction please...

    Thanks

    Tom

You need to have [removed] posts before you can add a sig.

    Aha... thanks.

Apparently there are a lot of things that you can't do until you reach a certain level. Is there a flight level table anywhere that tells all this good data?

Just kidding - anyway why it was [removed] for me? Are there equal and more equal here?

    Exclamation
Point of information: The post requirement amount is equal for all - it's not my fault if anyone confuses a sig requirement amount for a PM requirement amount.

    No, I'm not a D!ck

I just really don't want posts to post counts to get a highly spidered (see attached screenshot of spidering just today) sig!

I've already seen rule violations of "keyword stuffing" in the sigs, but my position is that if you are really contributing to the forum and helping - as you have iktorn - (saw that CSS post the other day - cool stuff) then I' guess I'm ok with it, and see it as an added benefit to members for helping others and participating on the boards

Cool! So can I add links for cheap viagra, mesothelioma lawyers, miserable failure, and farm animals to my sig? (No, these aren't really links, nor do I have sites about any of those things. They are just blue underlined text.)

While your generosity is appreciated, you might want to think a little more about where to draw the line. Personally, I think keyword stuffing shouldn't be allowed. It doesn't add any value for the readers. A normal signature does, as lets the reader know more about the poster.

Thanks Haiko, I understand your concerns.

Michael: I think adding 2-3 non-offensive links in your signature is not a crime. We all need high Google rankings. It is another way to get something back for contributing on the forum...

I agree--I think a limited amount of keyword stuffing SHOULD be allowed. Not so much that the sigs start to overpower the content of the posts, but regular contributing members (who don't mind having their site found by all the competition instead of real customers )should be able to at least get some help with the Big G. (Fair disclosure: I have some c*ntent sites that could use that help...)

    mesothelioma lawyers,
Ah, "mesothelioma lawyers..." Funny thing about that keyphrase is, if you check the AdWords cost predictor as if you were going to bid on that, it says that there'll probably be less than a click/day on the ad! (I know there's more searches than that, but they don't all click an ad.)

$50 goes to the affiliate who wins the 1 click for the month I guess LOL...

Sigs aren't the only place I've seen it happening already.

I'm with Haiko when we start seeing the quality and relevance of the actual post go down just so someone can get a keyword stuffed link spidered by Google.

Okay, I see I'm in the minority here. I guess there's no harm as long as they're not offensive and don't cause the post quality to go down.
