    Index Page containing all Categories
I have created the file according to Frank's Page.

My question is why are my category pages all individual?
I want all of them on 1 page.

It looks like the files were created, but there weren't any navigation pages made.

    Little help???
    Thanks

I think we'll need a little more info to know what's happening. What options are you using in the bottom half of the Index Page tab?

What does the template look like?
And is the data sorted? (see the Sort option in the Sources tab, and its discussion in the WebMerge 2.4 Help page on that tab)

    Sorry Richard,
I got caught up in something else for a few days.
I am sorting by product name.

What I ended up doing is using Franks files to run a dummy test. Since I need a 4-tiered site it seemed the easiest.

My file names and setting are set exactly as his is. I rand 1.4, 2.4 then 3.4, erased all the files that it created, then ran 1,2 and 3 again.

The files that it created gave me multiple categories with the same names, even though I set it to "use one template"

All of the product detail pages were generated okay, its the category and subcategory that aren't being created correctly.

Also, the main index page creates a page that has all of the detail information for each product, but all on that individual page. I thought it was supposed to create a page with all of the categories, that link to a subcategory page, then have the links for the individual pages.

I am exremely confused on this program and have been working with it for a week now.

When completed I'll be using on 4 of our websites, and a half dozen affiliate sites including scubaduba.com which ranks in the top 5 for just about all scuba related terms, so this is very important that I get this working.

It seems simple enough but I'm geting no results.

ps. I am more than willing to upload the files and give you ftp access to assist me on this. If you'll work this out I'll link you on every site we have and reference that "this site was created with WebMerge" and a link.

It sounds like a sorting issue. Check out the detailed notes on sorting I've added to the section on the Sources tab in the new v2.4 Help pages.

As explained there with a thorough example, the key is to sort by the field being used for the file names of the index pages.

Hang in there. If the Library of Congress can figure out how to use WebMerge (they picked up a five-pack last year) I'm confident you can too.

Tazzam, Before creating the text file, sort the columns that will be used as file names, and do this in reverse order of the columns being used.

e.g. You have columns A, B, C, D, E, F, G and your supercat is in D, cat is E, and subcat is F, then sort first the F column, then E, and then D.

For good measure, in the Webmerge settings file, sort the particular column that is used. In theory this works fine and it has for me most of the time.

(All, I have had no luck with the very latest BettyMills data set in spite of the above efforts -- the Maintenance & Safety supercat page only shows one cat. Has anyone else noticed this?)

I'm taking a look at our feed and don't see anything odd.

Let us know if the problem persists and if you suspect it's a feed problem.
