    I created a script to display a poster datafeed, which I uploaded into a mysql database. To create static pages, I made individual php pages for each category in the datafeed. These pages only have the name of the category and the category number, which are then called into a template that displays each page.

    For instance, the php page for John Wayne is named John-Wayne.php and only contains the following:

    <?php
    $catnum = "999";
    $categoryname = "John Wayne";
    and a couple of includes
    ?>

    This page is then called into a template which uses the category number to query the database and display all the John Wayne posters and uses the category name to fill in the title, meta tags, etc. on the page.

    Anyway, my question is: When a search engine crawler spiders the page named John-Wayne.php, does it only read the source code as shown above or does it read what the source code would be once the php functions in the template have accessed the database and created the finished page? Phew, I'm barely literate in this stuff so I hope all this makes sense.

    Thanks,
    Keith

    It reads what the viewer sees.

    View the source of the page that is created and that is what google should be seeing. If I'm understanding you correctly.

    The server is the only one that should see your php script. The browser and hopefully google only see what the php/server puts out. Otherwise people could steal your code.

    Good luck.
