O.k. now I've seen it all. I had a host ditch on me yesterday and 2 of my sites are down. I've managed to move my old back ups of them but the domains haven't propogated yet.
But I did get one impression and one click through and made a sale!
I can only guess they chose cached version and clicked through on that.
Makes the whole ordeal a whole lot easier!Suz~~GearGirl~~

Don't forget the cookies, the customer don't have to go thru your pages again after his first visit. I'm sure you feel good to see the sale with your site down.

DOH! Now that makes more sense. I get quite a bit of traffic(for me) for that merchant.
I like seeing 100% convertion though -- 1 clickthrough and 1 purchase in my stats. If only every day was 100% conversion.Suz~~GearGirl~~

This happened to me when Yahoo and Google both pummeled a large high traffic site at the same time.
Sales ran at about 80% of normal for about two weeks despite the fact that traffic was virtually nonexistent; about 2% of normal.
Just goes to show that cookie duration is not a minor and unimportant issue.
