Hi everyone,
I'm pretty new to this stuff.
How do you merge two CSV? For example, Bill Bam which as two - or others which have five or even six csv files. How do you merge them? I'm using excel....
And then, most importantly, how do you categorize them within webmerge so that you don't have fifty million index pages??

I'm getting very confused!

Thanks all....

Claudia

I use Navicat and do it on my server...

Navicat allow you to add to a table.. so I load the files one at a time into my mysql database table,,,

Another thing I like about Navicat... is it strips out mal formed lines with a csv file...
so only thing laoded onto the server are valid entries..

Did you apply for ftp access? Some of the feeds from SAS have ftp access and you can then download the feed as one file instead of the multiple ones that occurs when you download straight from SAS (because they limit each page to 1000 products). Otherwise I usually just copy and paste the individual files into the one. I believe with BillBam you can get ftp access so it makes life alot easier.

Can't help you with webmerge - never used it myself - I use php and mysql to manage feeds.

I applied to two of the SAS and didn't get a reply. The AcmeHardware feed in 33 parts is a dog's breakfast to merge and clean, so it's in my too hard basket for now. What is the criterion for these merchants to "approve" you for ftp access?

Not sure about requirements to be approved - yes that AcmeHardware feed is very large. I can't remember how long it was before they approved me...didn't seem that long. Perhaps drop an email out to them to try to 'speed' things up a bit.

cheers,

Thanks. My approval finally came through, but I'm none the wiser if my third request asking for some kind of response either way did it.

It is quite a mess, even as a whole file. It seems that they import an HTML file to CSV and the bulleted items remain as <li>, causing lines to break. Finally cleaned it up.
