    Datafeed Database Fields
I just wondered if there was any information anywhere or guidance on what database field types and widths to use for the data feeds categories at Shareasale?

    Thanks,

    Chris

Just download one and check out the format tis fairly straight forward. If you need help in working out how to use them then you have a bit of work to do! Or you can pay someone copious amounts of money to do it for you :-)

I don't need help with PHP and databases, but just wondered if there was any guidelines anywhere that would save me a little time. So there isn't any info on Sharesale about it then?

For example, the ProductID field seems to contain all ids with 9 digits in, but is that the most digits in any ids, are they all 9? How long is the longest merchant in the merchant field etc?

I don't know if this is what you're asking but, here it goes:

    ProductID
    Name
    MerchantID
    Merchant
    Link
    Thumbnail
    BigImage
    Price
    RetailPrice
    Category
    SubCategory
    Description
    Custom1
    Custom2
    Custom3
    Custom4
    Custom5
    LastUpdated
Those are all of the field's I see so far on the SaS datafeeds that I have downloaded.

Thanks, but I don't mean that.

I can see all of the fields but just wondered if there was anywhere showing the optimum field types and width in mysql for each field (well the width more than type) e.g. is there a maximum desciption length for the description field etc?

I think you really just have to make those types of judgements yourself, productID is unlikely to get much longer but it could. Link, Description, ImageLink etc are all fields whose size may change between updates so you have to choose a field type that you think is appropriate. Most fields in the mysql db I make text I kow the overhead associated with that but it prevents formatting issues later on.
