How Slow Is Too Slow- page loading
I know we want it fast- FrontPage is saying my page takes 32 seconds on 28.8, 17 seconds on 56K and 0 seconds on T1- is this too slow?

Jacob Nielsen has an article on load times that might be of interest:

An online optimization analyzer is saying:
    14.4K 11.02 seconds
    28.8K 5.61 seconds
    33.6K 4.84 seconds
    56K 2.98 seconds
    ISDN 128K 1.05 seconds
    T1 1.44Mbps 0.27 seconds

I wonder why they are coming up with different numbers.
I have no flash on my site. A very minimal amount of small graphics. Some java. I guess I need to cut the fat out of my html code.

One of the few things I've found Alexa useful for is comparing how fast a page loads to the "norm."

I have to wittle my home page down about every 3 months or so. It tends to grow (like the grass in the front yard) and it can get real ugly in a hurry if I don't mow it..

Honestly, don't worry about what FP says. Most people with money to buy online have hight spped access, these days. The ones who don't, are used to waiting for pages to load. I don't pay any attention to that any more.

If you have text on the page that has some substance, I don't think that a slight delay in the loading of pictures will be a detriment. Only if the text is saved as some sort of image file would a delay be problematic. When I go to a page, I don't care if some sidebar image is not done loading before I begin scanning the text of the page.
