Thumbs up What wine do you drink ?
    Hello team,

As you know, we are launching a new merchant in the "Wine" vertical, wine club, wine selections, baskets etc....

As we usually do, we talk about program incentives, promotions etc. While cash is always "king", wine gifts has come up and I though what a great idea would be to supply our future loyal affiliates with wine selections for your enjoyment...

    So, what's your favorite wine?
    Region?
    Brand?
    Grape?
    Red, White, Blush?

I personally like the Riesling grape, a little known wine called "Relax" in a blue bottle...

    What do you like?

My client is reading this thread as well...let's help him create our "promotion inventory"

Due to Charlies affinity to chewing up corks in the wine rack, I'm forced for stock brands like Ripple and Boone's Farm with screw off caps. Besides I'm usually too drunk or passed out, while waiting for the Celais or Viagra to kick in, to waste good money on fine wines. The gals just take off with the Cork screws, fancy glasses and a few bottles after painting my toe nails in irridescent purple. Thank God affiliates programs just allow us to sell this stuff, so all I'll need is some pre-sell spin and an auto-updated top 10 seller list.

If I'm out with the wine group, not the Moscow Mule & Budweiser crew, I order a bottle of Chteauneuf-du-Pape,Cuvee Domaine, Domaine de la Charbonniere or something similar. Those half bottles sold in Miami Go-Go Clubs are tasty too!

My wife's the wine expert in the house.

It's usually pretty low key - Louis Jadot, Yellow Tail and Clos Du Bois are regulars in the wine rack.

    Mike, no visuals please
You need to get off the wine if you are going to pop the blue pills

Seriously though, there are so many selections, so many brands, i'm getting a good education with my client as well on fine spirits...

Have to say that after our trip to Spain, I'm convinced that most good Cavas have it all over Dom. I love DP, as does my wife, but a good bottle of cava really measures up well.

I'm a Word Artist. Google even likes my 5 year old pages collecting dust. I'll just write up a page explaining how the dance Club Hotties all meet for wine and plotting before going out. Better yet I'll advise single guys on how to get invites to those Yuppe singles house dinner parties so popular in Atlanta, Charlotte and New Orleans. You know those, where you just show up with a nice wine and act refined, till the party progresses to some night club where the survivors get sh*t faced and talk about those who didn't make it to Phase II.

Since my heart-bypass it's been any Cab or Merlot - preferably above $12.00 bottle! A little every day

Strangely, wine might be good for a health site. Not a meds site that sells narcotics though

Also, wine from the Barolo district of Italy is good as well (it's called "Barolo")

My Golden likes to play with my empty beer bottles though, I have to keep an eye on him so he doesn't get drunk or break them and get hurt. He only has them when i'm outside with him...

Well, I actually don't care for the stuff, but my wife enjoys it. She tends to like Australian and California wines, although I have surprised her with things from South Africa, New Zealand, Chile, and so forth. Just to keep her on her toes. Of course, since I don't drink it, I have to choose by the pretty label method.

    Anyway, she likes:

Most of the Penfold's red, especially the Koonunga Hill Shiraz/Cabernet. Less so the Rawson's Retreat. Also, the Penfold's Koonunga Hill Chardonnay.

Most anything from Jacob's Creek, especially the Reserve Range.

    Peter Lehmann's Barossa Range.

If memory serves, Alkoomi and Rosemount both met with approval as well.

She's liked Ravenswood "no wimpy wines" Zinfandel ever since we went to their winery. Also, Clos La Chance has never really let her down. And Rancho Zabaco pops to mind.

    She dislikes:

Pink wines, although she will drink them when that's what is available.

Monkey Bay Sauvignon Blanc was a recent failed experiment (but it did have a pretty label!). Spy Valley also went over poorly.

    -John.
There's a reason army's wear uniforms even though it makes them easier to spot. Sometimes that's what you want. Uniforms suggest organization, power, and numbers. These, in turn, inspire fear. And, as any good operative knows, there is no more effective weapon than fear.

I'll second the votes for Yellow Tail and Penfolds.

Anybody remember "The Cheap Bastards Guide to Wine" on the internet back in the early 90's? I found that site right when I was transitioning from drinking sweet White Zin and Gewurtzreminer swill and discovering the joys of a good RED. He was always in search of the "big nasty merlot" on a budget and found some good ones. The reviews were priceless.

Riesling fanatics would do well to watch for offerings from New York State (shameless plug). Our reds are not always the best (except for the NY offerings in the Meritage movement) but those particular whites have been winning awards for a few years, now.

I especially like the ones with a screw-off cap. Sometimes they can be expensive though, up to $10 a gallon.
