    Getting a Top Google Ranking
Just thought some of you might find this little helpful tip a real golden nugget.

It is featured today on our partners SiteProNews.com site.

    A Back Road Loophole For
    Getting a Top Google Ranking

    By Alexis Dawes

While everybody wants their site to receive a top 10 ranking in Google, it's just not possible for everyone.

And this is especially true if you've got a brand new site. New sites that have been crawled by the Googlebot are sometimes given a decent ranking in Google for a few days before they plunge to the depths of Neverworld.
What a TEASE that Google is!

The unknowing webmaster thinks they've hit paydirt with an almost instantaneous top 20-30 listing. Then one day - POOF - their site is gone as fast as it arrived.

Now the webmaster has to prove that the site has staying power by getting links from other sites within its niche. Not just any links. Links from sites with a decent PageRank would really do the trick. Getting listed in the infamous Yahoo! or Open Directory would be even better.

That's what the experts constantly tell us. And in fact, it's all 100% true.

    -----------------------------------
However as the old saying goes...
There's more than one way to skin a cat.
    -----------------------------------

One of the things I teach my readers is that your site doesn't necessarily need a top 10 position in Google in order for you to be successful. You can get your marketing message listed in Google's top 10 results for your targeted keyword, and still get a ton of traff´c to your web site.

Let me explain how it works...

    1) You advertise on a specific site. (I'll tell you about this site in a few moments.) This advertisement will promote your web site;

    2) Your advertisement get's spidered by the Googlebot.

    3) Your advertisement receives a top Google ranking for your targeted keyword.

    4) People see your advertisement in Google, and click on to your actual web site.

    5) And this has NOTHING to do with placing an AdWords advertisement.

It's a fantastic little loophole that most people don't know about. And I've seen it work consistently for many different niches.

    This loophole works because--

    1) Google LOVES itself.

    2) Google trusts that expert researchers are going to lead searchers to the right tools.

You see Google has an interesting service called Google Answers.

Users submit specific quest´ons to Google Answers, and specify how much they're willing to pay for the answer. They accept quest´ons on all types of topics ranging from arts and entertainment, business, health, science, and so on.

Google has an arsenal of 500 researchers who answer these quest´ons.

While Google isn't accepting any more researchers, anybody with a Google account can post comments answering quest´ons. People who post comments don't get paid like researchers, but that's not the important part.

    -----------------------------------
Now here's where it gets juicy--
    -----------------------------------

I've noticed that Google loves to list quest´ons and answers from Google Answers within their top 10 search results.

For example, somebody posted a query saying that they needed a list of brokers who buy and sell used LED boards. You can view the query at: Answers.Google.com

I ran a search on Google for the keyphrase "LED boards" and sure enough, this exact query from Google Answers showed up in the #2 position. (Editorial Note: Curently #4 position)

Any LED board broker could get a ton a frŰe publicity here.

All they'd have to do is post a comment to this query listing their company as broker of LED boards. You can even list URL's in the comment.

And VOILA your job is done.

Your marketing message is listed in the #2 position under an extremely targeted keyphrase.

It's frŰe, and you didn't have to break a sweat to do it. You simply added some information about your site, and got immediate rank.

    -----------------------------------
Making this technique work for you.
    -----------------------------------

Google Answers receives many new queries every day.

Your job is to keep an eagle eye out for queries that you can post comments to, referring people back to your site.

But it's important to do a quick chŰck several times a week.

It took less than 2 weeks from the time the LED board question was posted, till it reached the #2 position in Google's main search.

You want to make sure you get prime advertising space before the query get's a top 10 ranking. This way you maximize how much traff´c you receive.

You got it right, it's nonsense. Someone found an example or two and thought they found the answer on how to get top Google rankings. Nonsense.

Maybe Google read the same article and is now keeping a closer eye on it, just waiting for somebody to post there thinking they're going to get top Google rankings, finger on the ban button. Nah, they wouldn't do that.

You might wanna look at this:

    http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=489765

Though Ray's intentions were good when he posted the article but I dont think its a good idea, keeping in mind goolges strategy of banning spammy sites. Its more like asking for trouble, spamming google in its own playing field.

Good find. That's what happens when nonsense gets reposted over and over again in various forums. It's got some people thinking it actually works and now Google Answers is getting bombarded with these people. So if Google bites back they can chalk it up as a lesson learned. What Ahmar said, i know this was posted with good intentions but a bad idea going into Google's little project and spamming.

If you just leave it as a question, it probably won't hurt you (unless your "question" itself is a blatant ad!!). After all, nothing wrong with asking a regular-sounding question... You'll be out the $2.50 but that's not a huge chunk of dough.

Personally I would NOT get all your friends to plaster the thread full of your sites, since that'd be a pretty big red flag. I think it's unlikely that the person in that Google thread that Trust linked to is right about all the sites all "being removed" in near-instant time, but I do think that rubbing G's face in a Slick (as sandpaper) Plan isn't a good idea either. It's just human nature that they would react very badly to such in-their-face disrespect.

I would just let the "question" sit unanswered if I was you...

I suppose the idea of cultivating links in directories and related sites is passe.

Hell, why not just hit all the FFA's and spam a few dozen message boards.

I read that article.. checked out the google answers, searched for a couple of my keywords.. didn't see a whole lot of spam but was very weary and did NOT comment with my sites link..

I did however post a legitimate question, ($2.00) but DID not include a link to any sites. I have been looking for a data resource and am not sure if one even exists so I thought I would ask...

One thing I did notice that some of the answers and resources are a great place to research ideas for new sites, maybe brush up on some tidbits of knowledge that could help add some content.

From what I've seen lately, if you want a top Google ranking, you:

    1. Buy a couple dozen throw away domains.
    2. Send out a bot to gather site URLs and snippets for your keywords.
    3. Throw up the new sites with a directory format, and do 302 redirects to all outbound links.
    4. Add text in a micro font at the bottom of the page, and have it match the background color of the page.
    5. Place links to these new sites from a few high ranking legitimate sites, until they've been crawled, then remove them.

    VIOLA! You're in like Flynn!!

    </sarcasm>

Seriously, this is what I'm seeing for sites listed above mine right now, and many of them seem to be breaking every SPAM 101 rule there is, but they're considered more relevant than my legitimate pages, which no one is finding due to all the cr@p at the top of the SERPs.

I don't think now is the time to try to figure out what works in Google, because I believe they are having serious problems right now. JMO...

Imagine how well Google, the shoppers, and the affiliate industry would do if all the SERP and browser spammers just up and died of Ad-AIDs tomorrow without passing on their tricks in their wills.

    I agree with you Andy.

In addition, what about this novel approach:

Make a site/page that has so much value in itself that it can stand on its own and is all that is stated in the title/metatags plus some i.e. make a "GOOD" site. The tricks don't work, or they work for a time til EVERYBODY is using them and then the tricks are considered "spam techniques" and the jigs up and its back to the drawing board. Why not spend all that time and effort making a quality site (be it "content" or "shopping") so that it is more than a 1-sale/1-visit site that someone stumbles into at the SERPs? If google or any other search engine out-algorithms itself so badly that it misses true quality sites in its SERPs, it won't be around long as a leader in the field.
