Cool ComputerGeeks is broken on BF links
More then screwed up it 's a complete disaster. I spent an hour this morning just trying to get some of my hand coded main pages to even load on my site that had ComputerGeeks links. Most all Geeks Images, even when changed to www.geeks.com from the BF provided codes, didn't display. Any Dynamic links, be they text or images locked any affiliates pages from loading if you use layout tables like most.

None of the Befree links displayed in the "get links" section worked properly or took ages to load. No Geek cookies were being set on my system from the links I clicked that went through!!! Seems they, or Befree, or both either have fuc*ed up the data mining redirects or someone HACKED the Geeks server as the address bar URL display locks up with some strange siteID code for referrrer.....the Geek code and my site ID service.bfast.com/bfast/click?bfmid=37919189&siteid=38727820&bfpid=SR1132CU-B&bfmtype=3 gets whacked when clicked. Home page banner tries this crap coded URL ... http://www.geeks.com/default.asp?sou...BfhzOhAk7wjLbN

or http://www.geeks.com/default.asp?sou...BlzjOoAk7wjIM4 Is someone internal changing ID#s and BF cookie sets, setting a house cookie, or hijacking the affiliate click stream to the GEEKs. Those criptic sourceid codes weren't there before.

Above all this crap has been going on for over a month with no real action taken... It's about time the Geeks affiliates cherp in here and write the Geeks AM to fix this commissionable link breakdown. They are destroying our own sites page displays and functionality with this cheapskate driven madness. They refuse to pay for hosting images, proper cookie sets and content on the 2 former sites still showing the the BF interface.

    Hi, EcomCity,

Everything seems generally okay with Computer Geeks on this part of the Internet

I just checked all my Computer Geeks graphics links on a fresh operating system reload and a fresh browser (Opera) and about half of my text links on my fairly large "Hot Deals From Computer Geeks" web page at:

    http://www.os2warplinks.com/main/hot...putergeeks.htm

and they all loaded up quickly from top to bottom.

I also checked the Be Free Partner Gateway to see if it would make code for a graphic. The make code function did not "blue out" the link code but I was able to copy it with my mouse. This seemed to be the only malfunction I could find.

Sorry I didn't check this sooner but I've spent the last two days and nights adding links to my web site.

Hope things work out for you !!

Well that morning their server interfacing to the BF image/banner and DRM and full page creative links was screwy. Even direct typing URL to Geeks.com from 2 browsers was bringing up sporatic page loads. Of course they fixed it upon reading my e-mail alert since all sales activity ceased to produce at normal leveles (what ever that is)

Still they and BeFree cannot convence me with any valid proof that the entire Computer Geeks click/cookie set and sales reporting is working properly. All of the BF reporting and cookie set interfacing was originally done to www.computergeeks.com and www.compgeek.com. Some brainiac there then decided to only pay hosting for the new domain www.geeks.com smartly seeing commission payouts dropped like a rock a few months ago. All the individual product, text links and banner links pointing to the 2 older domains by the mystery Bfast sales reporting interface run right into the re-direct shredder. Silence on this one repeated question by me from BeFree and The Geeks demands further investigation. Affiliates manually changing image source URLs doesn't guarantee the hidden underlying click/cookie set is taking place upon the re-direct

Disturbing erratic click stats, like those shown when Tigerdirect's Andy Rodreguez found gapping sales reporting holes back in 2001 whacking his test purchases, are showing in many of my BeFree merchants. BF can't screw up the 1x1 pixel impression count. They and the merchant sure can screw up the actual click/cookie count from domain bound BF coded links.

Take a look folks and explain to me what happens when I flip TigerDirect link traffic for product -text banner -FPC and DRM links to The Geeks. Where is the trust factor when my computer showcase pages traffic remains steady and sales conversion fall through the floor. My site has never been whacked by Google or other SE alogo changes and I do no PPCSE.

Needless to say BeFree/ValueClick/TigerDirect has no desire to spotlight data mine my TD traffic at the sub 1000 impression level. Sad to say flipping traffic to the 2 similar product line competitors caused TD to outsell my savvy shopper referrals to The Geeks, regardless of only old obsolete TD product and text links burried on some dusty pages get clicked.

I can't even get to viable individual product links for the Geeks, do to their product database being broken for months at BF, to bump them to impression levels I gave TD last year. Hint ...do any obvious product keyword search and skip through any showing a broken image as those don't set cookies or record clicks and impressions.

The Ultimate commission killer, as the only purpose for this one is to entice shoppers away from the affiliates referral and onto their mass e-mailing list. Not once in 3 years have I ever received a "back in stock notice" and this one was fetched from a product link where 2 other exact same spec DVD-CDR's are in stock from the same manufacturer...just in different color. LOL..

    Hi EcomCity,

Thanks for the Computer Geeks alerts. I think real computer guys are a very small minority of those posting on this forum, though. The others just own and use computers.

Lately I have been having trouble with IBM's graphics links loading up as well as partial loadups of pages on their web site at www-132. In fact, it got so bad that I redid all my main page graphics links for IBM last night trying to find some that would load up quickly and completely. I also had to redo and throw out graphics on my "Hot Deals From IBM" page at:

    http://www.os2warplinks.com/main/hot_deals-ibm.htm

I wonder if it a bandwidth problem?

IBM definitely needs to take better care of their affiliate marketing program.
A lot if their links are badly outdated . . .

IBM, if you need someone new to take care of your affiliate program, I'll be glad to send you send a copy of my resume.
