    WM-IndexLabel repeated
I am trying to create 3 levels in a index file

    ie

    Category1
    ___Name1____Data
    ____________Data
    ___Name2____Data
    ___Name3____Data
    ____________Data
    ___Name4___Data
    Category2
    ...

I am trying to do this by using IndexLabel twice in the file but it does not appear to work, it gives strange behaviour. And does leave some repeated values blank but not the correct ones.

Can anybody on how to do it with IndexLabel or with some other method.

    need indexlabel in single file
But the tutorials do not cover having the multiple indexlabels inside one template, they are very good for multiple indexes in multiple levels. That is not the issue.
    thanks for any assistance

I haven't tried using more than one index label like that in a single template. It is an interesting idea though. What kind of "...strange behaviour." does it come up with? I assume you are talking about what gets written on to the page?

I think the challenge is in the way WM stops/starts adding data to a page (i.e. when it thinks it is supposed to stop/start writing info to the finished document(s).

I'll give it a try. I can't promise when I'll get to it though.

I solved what I call a nested index page for lack of a better title, by using the index label with the Category field, then I use the advanced filter in Excell and select "unique records only" so webmerge doesn't even see extra sub category records. You can see this at work at http://onlineweddingsets.com

I have tried to use 2 pairs of IndexLabel tags on a single template too - so far without success - I don't think WM can handle it

I think I understand. Yes, WebMerge's internal housekeeping doesn't handle multiple WM-IndexLabel tags on the same page. I'll dig into the code to see if it could be extended to do so....

I have used the Excel advanced filter - to show unique records only - but when I try to save this as a text file, it won't save the filtered result.

Anyone know how to do this?

    .

richard should note that this facility is requested over and over again - it is really essential even for elementary jobs - and should be a top priority in WM development.

heisje should note that richard has already noted that.

It may also be worth noting that while the feature has indeed garnered much discussion in this one thread in recent weeks, among all my other customers over the life of the product it's just never come up before.

Just the same, I've already acknowledged it's worthwhile and have said I'll do what I can to see about implementing it ASAP. I'm not sure what more I could do beyond that.
