    Gmail Now Available For Everybody?
    http://www.google.com

Just noticed this on the page:
New! Get Gmail - Google's free email service with 1 GB of space.

Ah, i just saw what it says after i click that link:
Cool. So can I get an account?
Absolutely. As we make room for more Gmail users, we want to first extend invitations to Google users. We're still working to make Gmail better, so for now, we're just inviting a small number at random. Looks like that's you! We're really excited to share Gmail with you and we hope you like it

They have something like, just found it: The Gmail Notifier is a downloadable Windows application that alerts you when you have new Gmail messages.

I'd be happy with a tool to retrieve my login info. I've had an account for months, but can't do a damn thing with it...

LOL! I got one the first time I looked for it.

Now what the heck am I supposed to do with that? As if I don't have enough mail boxes to check. Well, I guess, it is good for a throw away when I don't want to be bothered by someone but must have an email.

I like it because big attachments don't choke it and the spam filter is VERY good. They also have free POP3 access so you can just plug it in to your Thunderbird or Outlook list and use it like a regular non-web e-mail account.

I direct a couple of spam happy domain based accounts I have to a gmail account and the spam filter is not only good, they have a special way to report phishing emails. Since November the amount of spam going to that account has dropped from 11,000 to 2,000 per month. I am *hoping* that the corresponding websites have been trashed also

If they inadvertently mark an email as spam (usually yahoogroups mail list messages) you can mark it as Not Spam.

I see a distinct advantage to having several Gmail accounts. I will look at the pop settings and see it it allows me to NOT download the mail from the spam folder

I also use it to archive messages from a couple yahoogroups lists that don't have archives. Keeps the yahoo groups mail off my computer too

A friend of mine has had his gmail account shown on his blog web site, no masking, for probably 6 months now and he hasn't had a SINGLE spam message make it through. Amazing.

The POP settings do not download the spam folder, AFAIK.
