Is this a typical hijacking action?

Looks like Ask Jeeves - that does some strange things with frames sometimes.

    Yes ist is ask jeeves.
The hijacking is mainly set by redirection so that google thinks the original site is moved permanently to another location.
Is it good tactics to set a redirection or meta refresh on the index site to the same index site?

As a way of getting around 302 redirect hijacking ? Hmm... I don't know for sure, but I suspect it won't work as Google will still see the 302 link as the 'originator' of the content of the page.

This hijacking thing is the craziest problem I've seen in Google in a long time. It's so bloody easy for them to resolve. Either treat 302 redirects as 301s - which would mean that the real destination page gets include not the redirect link. Alternatively, don't include 302 redirects in the index at all. There, that wasn't too hard, now, was it Google ?

MarkyMark is right that the 302 problem should be easy to resolve. I'm seeing it pop up with some of the smaller affiliate management sites that use 302 redirects.

Google also currently has a bug with 301 redirects. I've seen cases where it has messed these up in the same manner as it is currently doing with the 302s.

If you have a bunch of domain names pointed to a single site with 301 redirects, the best advice I can give is to park them at your registrar and do not point them to your main site.

Isn't that the definition of an endless loop?
