    Claria Has It's Own Web Security Software
    http://www.websecurealert.com/

    States it deletes cookies. ::grrrr::

    WhenU with Aluria powered 'spyware removal' apllication. Claria with this. Who else and who next?

    Cool The stench gets overwhelming in the Adwhore house
    I've never been tainted by attending one of those high fa-luting affiliate network events or cruises. Do these Adwhore operators mix well with scotch, or is it all hard drugs? Seems AOL wanted to distance themselves as the Allure of Aluria comes with a odoriferous Aura.

    This is all more BS why claria and the likes insist their software is not spyware, it is adware. So they can be anti-spyware... The FTC needs to jump on this crap like they did against the wiper gang window messenger people.

    Does anyone know, do any of these list their competitor's software but not their own?

    One of the things I'm looking at right now with WhenU's app.

    Claria's doesn't appear to be a spyware detection, but more a privacy app. Delete cookies, reset browser home page, alert to IE changes, etc.

    You are right about doing this to insist their apps or not spyware. But then joe blow consumer doesn't really make a distinction between spyware and adware. Agree that FTC needs to jump on this. But when Homeland Security is appointing folks from Claria to sit on their Privacy Committee? I'm not so hopeful of seeing that happen at all.

    Kellie, Be sure to look at the removal procedure for Claria's security/privacy app. Removal requires quite a few clicks within Control Panel (yes, yes, yes) as well as typing in a special removal code (a CAPTCHA). In contrast installation can be quite quick. I discuss the fact that removal is harder than installation, including providing screenshots, in the second section of this article.
