    Question PHPBB Integration?
Hi, i want to integrate my website http://www.tenemag.com/ so that people can sign up to access the gaming section, and view special content sections of my site but have it so that all the login info gets taken from the MySQL database on my PHPBB forum... this way, a user visits, registers ONCE, and is able to post messages on the forum, play the "members only" games section, and view possible soon to come "members only" section. i want to run everything off of the existing PHPBB database rather than make users sign up twice or transfer everything to a new database... if I have to transfer everything to a new database such as Invision Board or vB, is there a script or something that comes with it to transfer my existing members over or would they all have to re-register? also, my site, tenemag.com, is in conjunction with my sub-sites http://www.amodi.net/ http://eatthemeat.amodi.net/ and http://jarg0n.tenemag.com/ each site is independent yet we want to have it so you join at tenemag.com and your login is valid among the entire comunity using the PHPBB database. all the sites reside on the same server and everything... is there a way to do this? thanks!

It is possible. :-) I did this a few years ago for a membership/community site where the main focus was the phpBB forums but there were some membership features outside of that. I think I did something like put a hook into the rest of the site code to check for a valid phpBB session and activate memberships based on that. If I recall correctly, I also had a login/logout box that was hooked up to the phpBB backend.

yea, as you can see on my main site, i've attempted on making it so you can login and it would re-direct you "home" back to Http://www.tenemag.com/index.php as the refering login site... but instead it instantly logs you into the forums and points you to http://www.tenemag.com/forum/index.php instead... i'm thinking if i can figure out how to do that... the rest will come easy... i've already figured out session management using cookies but i'm still having trouble with the login boxes...

I have that site on a backup CD somewhere. If I can find it I'll send you some details of what I did.
