Haiko,

Did you know that PHP is processed faster than cgi, i mean the load time of this forum is very very poor. and i am on cable connection.

i guess vbulletin is cheaper than infopop. plus it has tons of features u'll love to use.

I have tried to convince him to go to vBulletin as well, but to no awail.

I run a vB board with 130.000 messages without any problems.
I have just bought my second license, and I'm going to buy a third. My old forum sites really need the beef in vB.

Haiko would have a heck of a time converting this board, though. There are supposed to be import utilities, but who knows how that works?

The most important thing isn't which board he uses, as long as it works ok.
Although the 1/2-second searches on vB is deeply missed here.
The search function on this board is mostly for those that can wait until tomorrow for the results.

BTW, I have no problems with load times on this forum whatsoever. I'm also on cable, from Europe.

Infopops search is way slow. It takes sometimes up to 20 minutes to do a simple search. I use phpBB for my forums and that works well. But thats alright, I still enjoy this forum very much.

I suggest that to switch to InvisionBoard. It runs on PHP and MySQL.

Moreover, its free.

I believe his choice has something to do w/ security; however, I am a bit confused as to why he suggested that I buy vBulletin for my new site.
No regrets though, I'm lovin' vBulletin...I didn't think anything could be easier than the Ikonboard setup, but it was cake, even w/ no PHP experience

For your needs Celicaphile, VBulletin is better and less expensive, plus you can get listed in the SEs since there isn't a "?" in the urls, which will help jumpstart your new boards

vBulletin has been known to address security issues very quickly. One of their main focuses on security and they do limit the number of security risks.

We have beem using infopop for two years in our pet forums, we are in the process of switching over to Vbulletin now.

THe problem IMO, is that IPop servers can't handle the bandwith and they place too many users on each of their servers resulting in slow responses to the users.

I have an idea. How about all of the whiners pass a hat and take a collection for a new set of boards? LOL!

Sorry, I am in a mood and don't want anyone to pick on Haiko. He sent me a t-shirt for gosh sakes!

Well i'm planning to start up a forum using Invision board - fast and free - It has a ? in the URL's, but all the posts get indexed in google fine.

I think google allows one question mark - anything more and it doesn't.
