    What's a sales site?
I can think of three broad types of affliate sites:

Shopping Portal sites. These seem to take the datafeeds from Overstock and everyone else and rework them, display them in a unique way, huge sites.

Niche sites with content . This appears to be 10+ pages on the topic of say…Container Gardening. It would have 10 pages of articles about contianer gardening with a thick smattering of gardening items for sale

    Now the big question:
Sales Sites – What's a sales site? Would it be like the container garden site but without the pesky content text? It would be 10 pagesof links to gardeing materials.

Can you clarify what a sales site is.

    Thanks,

Think of what is generally perceived as a "content" site to be a magazine. Composed mostly of written articles and/or photos, but often with varying degrees of advertising material piggybacked onto the "content".

In contrast to this, what would generally be perceived as a "sales" site is formatted more like a catalog; the primary objective is to feature items offered for sale.

    What CC said.

However, I will add to that a bit...
It would be 10 pages of links to gardening materials.
Not quite. A sales site will also typically have some sales spin, or descriptions, etc...not *just* links alone.

Anything that showcases with text related entirely to their products can be a SALES SITE. It doesn't matter if it's an affilate or merchants SALES SITE.

    Thanks
Thanks, that makes it more clear. My summary: A content site is more like a magazine with articles with ads. A sales site is more like a catalog of products and descriptions.

Does anyone have an example of a pure sales site ? For example if I am looking to buy a citizen watch on the internet.

actually, any site that sells anything..... and makes money for the owner of the site!

Have we ever seen a post from Mike saying his buddy Charlie was for sale to the highest bidder so he could pay his rent...???

Of coarse the same cant be said of Charlie......

OK, OK... but that was for different reasons...
