Thumbs down Affiliate Managers...Stop PUNKING ME!!
The one problem that I have is affiliate Managers that don't a clue what we marketers are going through trying to promote their merchants...

Although there are a few awesome affiliate managers out there, I think that their should be a required course that AM'S take to understand what we go through and sometimes we need some help..

Is it just me....or do others feel punk'd too

    Let me know

It's such a slap in the face.....and to think...they are supposed to help us.

I like the ones that work on commission...like us.

Imagine if affiliates got a salary...HA that would be hilarious...

Back to real world....if only the merchants you represent had a clue

    Maybe I am too needy

I provide my Seach Engine based Publishers with Updated Negative Keyword lists and Seach Conversion info. What other info would be helpful?

We don't know unless you ask, would be helpful to know what you need so I can provide?

It's an easy system in reality...ditch the ones that don't respond or help and work with those that do

ditch the ones that don't respond or help
But first... thrash them publicly... (after 3 unanswered emails)

Then contact the BBB with a "Can you please help us get something as simple as a RESPONSE" from these people complaint (embarrasses the hec out of 'em when they recieve it)

then forward the ABW thread and BBB complaint to BOTH the AM, the general "Contact Us" address at the merchant website, and the network (LS, CJ, etc).

Usually doesn't help, but it is a really good VENT - and let's 'em know we expect the BARE MINIMUM

I'd much rather send a registered letter to the CEO of the company the represent.

    Or maybe to USA Today.....

Here I am....a humble affiliate that wants to promote....ON STRAIGHT COMMISSION, build your brand, yadda yadda yadda...and you wont even reply to an email...phone call..

Forget the BBB, I am goin right to the CEOS

    >a humble affiliate

    We don't take humble affiliates.
We LUV and support "affiliate ANIMALS".

I LIKE your style and would help ya out.
I have an affiliate that has spent $20,000 of her own $ on tolls in the last 12 months.

Herb is so on the money with this.....

Most CEO's of Dot Coms that are say 45 plus are completely
    clueless...

The old school way of business just doesnt work, we are in a new economy boys and girls that has nothing to base the future on except trial and error.

Its all about risk baby......Old School CEO's think Risk is a board game

spent $20,000 of her own $ on tolls in the last 12 months.
You mean advertising costs? (Somehow I don't think an affiliate would end up spending $20k/year to drive down a turnpike...)

    Not PUNKING
    >You mean advertising costs?

    I said TOOLS
You see many program managers offering TOOLS
She did not want tools that everyone and their bother/sister had access to, so she had her own tools built for her that were better and FASTER.

    >20 grand on Pay per clicks?
    Not a dime on PPC

LOL Read your first post again...I copied/pasted that quote about "tolls" directly from it!

It does make a lot more sense as "tools" though.

@ Adam-- LOL Nobody's perfect... For us non-OLD people there's always "typing while asleep" to cause groans n' moans the next day...

@ M--It's probably custom software. That can get really expensive if it's something intricate (or occasionally even if it's not intricate! In which case it'd be a ripoff...)

Do you consider spending 20k on Affiliate marketing, like lots?
YEAH! At least in the timeframe of 12 months, anyway!
I checked out some custom software a few months ago, and the programmer told me $10k...about knocked me off my chair!

Of course there are some high rollers who would just call that a "reasonable investment," but personally I like to keep my investments below the -trigger level

Yeah, but you don't have to be bled dry to make money!

What kinda software are we talking about?
LOL any software worth *that* much, is also worth NOT putting the concept on a board that's 1/2 full of programmers! After all, the exclusivity is where most of that value is, and I'm sure that's what gets the prices jacked up so high.

As for the person Adam was talking about, I don't know what her tools do or how much she makes... She may have thought of an entirely different concept than what I did...
