    Making the leap - SLOWLY
So I finally decided to make the leap away from the full-time j*b.

I went over things with my CIO yesterday, and we agreed that we would start the weaning process so that by the end of May I would be down to about 25%. I will effectively be a consultant only on the projects where he needs my international skills and contacts, and the rest of my time I will spend on my AM and photography. So I won't be completely disconnected, and it will take a month or so, but I am making the jump never-the-less.

I'm really looking forward to being able to put more time into my sites, and stay up until 4AM working on something I'm jazzed about instead of worrying about having to be bright and chipper in the office the next day.

    Best-o-luck to ya'!

You'll love the feeling of being able to work in your PJ's with toothpicks holding your eye lids open from a late nighter!

Congratulations! I'm about to make the leap too. I currently do medical transcription as well as affiliate marketing, and have almost reached the point where I can quit the transcription. It's a great feeling!

Just remember, those four days a week working in "telecommute casual" does not mean you can go back to the office wearing flip flops. They'll expect an upgrade from "clothing optional" to be a little more than that.

{sigh} I really miss the days of consulting.

That is a fantastic way of doing things. I often miss human contact. I also sometimes forget how 'good' i have it. Keeping yourself on the clock at your old job in a small way could keep you very grounded.
