    Question Google search listings
I typed my whole url into Google .mysite.com and the following appeared.
Google can find web pages that contain the term mysite.com and 500 listings appeared without mine. How does this happen? If anything I should be in first place. As a matter of interest ,2 of my postings from abestweb are in first place.

How long has your site been online?

Was it previously listed in Google, and now gone?

There are some anomalies lately with Google, one of my sites disappeared for its name, and a bunch of garbage sites that mentioned it or linked to it were listed first. It's a bitter pill to swallow when you have a unique site name, search for it, and it's at #274 with a bunch of other sites mentioning it listed first.

Things have returned to normal now in that respect, but I don't think Google is working 100% the way it should, and I don't think it has since mid-December. I think Google is doing some housecleaning, and what we're getting right now is substandard compared to what we should be getting.

Hopefully it will get straightened out soon...

Thanks Andy. I have been online for 9 years and yes my site was listed first with that keyword. I have a unque url and it should be first using that phase. I am getting great listings at Yahoo and find that Yahoo gives better results for everything. It appears that Google is only interested in generating cash then the best search results. If your willing to spend big bucks you can buy any keyword.

    Neil,

When you type in allinurl: it only returns results with those words in them. For a complete explanation of advanced Google search queries, check this page: Google Search Terms - I think that page explains most of them.

It's important to remember that if you want an accurate accounting of other sites linking to yours, check that on Yahoo, as Google intentionally doesn't return everything, for some reason (guess it's a secret...)
