    Experian Interactive acquires Affiliate Fuel

Experian Interactive becomes key channel for consumer-direct transactions via the Internet

Costa Mesa, Calif., April 25, 2005 – Experian today announced that it has acquired Thermo Media, LLC, also known as Affiliate Fuel, through Experian Interactive, the new name for the organization comprised of Experian Consumer Direct and MetaReward. Affiliate Fuel is a leading pay-for-performance advertising network and will add complementary products and services to Experian Interactive’s other businesses.

Affiliate Fuel caters to the needs of hundreds of advertisers and Web site properties on the Internet. The company works with more than 1,500 high-quality publishers to provide advertisers’ products and services to consumers. Through Affiliate Fuel’s network, advertisers gain access to a wide consumer audience and benefit from the low cost per acquisition of new customers. The majority of Affiliate Fuel’s advertisers are educational institutions.

"Affiliate Fuel is a natural fit as Experian Interactive continues to focus on becoming the market leader in multiple vertical sectors associated with large-scale financial transactions and attendant life events such as buying a car or home, obtaining a credit card, protecting family and assets, and saving money," said Ed Ojdana, group president of Experian Interactive. "Experian Interactive will assimilate new acquisitions and leverage marketing channels, customers and technology. Experian Interactive empowers consumer choice by helping them gain the products and services they desire by building successful long-term relationships with our clients."

"By joining Experian Interactive, we will be able to expand our network and strengthen Experian’s existing consumer product offerings," said Matt Simpson, managing partner of Affiliate Fuel. "Furthering their education is a critical life event for most consumers and our education offering helps them find a degree program that fits their needs. We are excited to support Experian’s dedication to helping consumers find the resources they desire at certain points in their lives."

All employees and management for Affiliate Fuel will be retained. Affiliate Fuel was founded in 2001 and is located in Marina Del Rey, Calif.

The acquisition is consistent with Experian’s global strategy of acquiring complementary businesses that provide new products, new data or entry into new vertical or regional markets, while leveraging the core assets of Experian.

Experian also bought MetaRewards. I'm glad to see AF management is staying on and hope the MetaRewards stuff doesn't rub off over at AF.

Experian is the credit report / credit score folks.
So they're also data miners and email list sellers.

    This smells like...
"Experian Interactive will assimilate new acquisitions and leverage marketing channels, customers and technology. Experian Interactive empowers consumer choice by helping them gain the products and services they desire by building successful long-term relationships with our clients."

And the piece above mentions MetaReward...
Which is also now an Experian company (Experian bought MetaReward in Nov 2003)...
    MetaReward is...
    http://www.metareward.com/mr/Publish...andler/landr_1 ...
    and
    http://www.metareward.com/mr/Publish...andler/landr_6
    and
    http://www.metareward.com/mr/Publish...andler/landr_7

"MetaReward is a leader in online customer acquisition for top brand advertisers. Founded in 1999, we pioneered new performance-based marketing models and continue today to be a leading innovator in online marketing. We are able to drive significant numbers of new customers to our clients through our long-standing relationships with thousands of high traffic consumer websites. Our clients only pay on a performance basis for newly acquired customers. Our blue chip list of over 200 clients includes American Express, AT&T, Blockbuster, BMG, Bookspan, Chase, Citibank, Columbia House, DirecTV, Discover, eBay, Memberworks, Netflix, Time Warner and Triligiant."

Go here: http://www.netflip.com/nf/mah/about_us/ , then hover over the "click here" part of this at the bottom:
If you are a marketer who is interested in acquiring new customers on a pay for performance basis please click here to contact us.

Leads you to MetaReward signup to run ads through NetFlip.
So MetaReward = NetFlip = Experian.

So Experian has my credit card and mortgage info in their database... and my driver's license and my marriage certificate...

And they own MetaReward ad now Affiliate Fuel as well.

And CJ says this about NetFlip in their case study posted here:
    http://www.cj.com/clients/casestudy/netflip.jsp

"NetFlip uses Commission Junction to add revenue and customers:
As the most highly trafficked rewards-based marketing network on the Internet, NetFlip uses consumer incentives to ensure efficient marketing solutions with a guaranteed ROI for online marketers. Realizing that impression-based (CPM) advertising was costly and ineffective, NetFlip developed the TransACT Technology Platform, a performance-based marketing solution that provides a direct marketing platform for online marketers and an alternative to CPM advertising models."

"NetFlip's publisher program is one of the most successful in the Commission Junction network, ranking in the Top 5 percent of publishers within the network. NetFlip currently works with nearly 50 Commission Junction advertisers, including eBay, USA Today, Half.com, The New York Times Home Delivery, LowerMyBills and One Share."

Of course CJ shows you the case study for NetFlip right on the same area of their site where you can read about eBates and MyPoints:

Just a merging of the privacy and Credit Card info peddling Adwhores as every student or wannabee at Affiliate Fuel gets pounded with CC offers, junk mail and cell phone text spam. Bet the IAB and DMA wanks are busy beavers adding to their telemarketing, Marriage mail & e-mail lists, all the fresh files.
