    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

I can't believe it. I just can't believe it. I don't know whether to think this is a good thing or a bad thing. In general I think it's a bad thing when the two top competitors in any field merge.

I guess the only thing we can do is stay tuned and see what happens next.

Things like this are never good for anybody except the merging companies. Since they are the domanant player in the industry they now can just dictate the terms. We'll know if its bad for us when/if they just lower the commissions on a take it or leave it basis. If not then it there shouldn't be a problem.

The point is, that they may be " happy to announce some exciting news" but this is not good news to affiliates such as you or me.

What I want to know is who bought who? There is no such thing as a true merge of equals. In the end one set of management runs the place and the second set takes a buyout or early retirement.

    My email to them:

"Most importantly to me - will you be taking Allposters.com stance against parasites or will you be allowing them as Art.com does?"

    Their reply:

"AllPosters.com's policies against parasites will remain; each site will continue to operate independently, and keep its respective policies. If you have any further questions, please let me know."

Prediction - look for a substantial decrease in the commission scale within 3-4 months I suspect. My best guess is that the rate will be lowered down to 15%, matching other, smaller art programs on the net.

Yes, they are leaving that open on their announcement. Definitely will be dropping the commissions. Is there other biggies out there? How about barewalls or the one on this board postersupply.com? I think postersupply.com may be struggling to lift off but if they get key affiliates, their fortunes could change!

Actually, art.com and allposters.com may get badly hurt if they drop the commissions and a little guy maintains the 25% structure.

I am launching a new program that will potentially pay very well. My question is what are affiliates selling - posters or prints? I have a site dedicated to only posters and another site dedicated to only prints. Since posters have a higher margin I thought by seperating the sites I could offer a higher commission on the poster site (potentially 30%+). I would imagine the answer to my question depends on the type of visitor the affiliate site sends to the merchant (young=posters older=prints). I presume there isn't much overlap in these 2 market segments, but I may be wrong. Anyways, any feedback or thoughts on this would be much appreciated.

    Posters or Prints
My site does more sales with posters than prints. I also target posters as a keyword so this may be the reason.
